Anuone out there actually prepared to pay $575 a night?

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who is actually prepared to pay $575 a night to stay at Disney over Christmas. This is how much they want for SSR. We stayed there last year from 19th to 27th for $222 a night using the 40% off code and took advantage of checking in on the last day of value season. This year, no code and individual pricing so just interested who would book at these prices. Our block was completely empty last year until Xmas Eve and then definitely not full. Have booked for FW this year from 17th to 27th but desperately hoping for some sort of discount for SSR.
Interested to hear anyone elses opinion.

not on your life! I can get my full helping of magic for a lot less... I already find Disney overpriced for the room quality. I know, I'm a heretic....but really, the prices are sky high for minimal amenities....but we are paying the premium for the location. $545/n is serious money and would command an amazing suite at some of the best hotels in the world (think places like the Ritz) Now that I think about it, I'm only paying a bit over $200/n for a club level suite at the Ritz on the way down to WDW .....

No, no, no and no. We love being there at Christmas but last year was our last. It is just not worth it with the day to day pricing it makes it impossible. We stayed in '05 @ CBR for $121 per night with tax. Last year we stayed @ POP for $93 per night, not bad but was hoping for AP rate. With that time period being blacked out now, no way. Add to that the holiday prices for resturants and our Christmas money just doesn't stretch that far anymore. Sorry Disney!!

Thinking of the economics of this...if I were coming from Europe, based on the present exchange rate of Euro to USD($), the 575/n room only costs $361! So, Disney is very doable IF you are not an American...

I am from England so would agree that the exchange rate is in our favour. However you are still talking £300 for a room at SSR which is still an awful lot of money (especially when I paid £120 last year). On top of that it will cost me $3000 for 3 of us to get to Orlando so all in all its still an expensive holiday. With tickets, food etc, I would guess my whole 3 week trip last year was £5000. I am just hoping that Disney realise that the daily pricing is just out of most peoples budget for the holidays. Saying that, there are lots of great places to stay off site for a fraction of the cost. Trying Bonnet Creek for the first 11 nights of our holiday this year at a cost of $120 a night which sounds like great value but really want to be on Disney Property for Xmas.

I spend that in a week at Disney for my family of 7 and we stay Value.
To answer the OP question, there is no way, no how, not on my best beat or with someone else's money that I could ever justicfy spending over $500 a night for a hotel room, I don't care where it is!
Oh and as for the daily pricing... I think its crazy.
I expect prices to rise yearly but this is nuts. It would cost me 82 one night at value, 99 the next as I would be checking in on a value season then the nest day is regualr, 109 for sat & sun, then 119 for holiday nights. Its bull and it may be the reason we stay off site. Good job keeping Disney Family freindly, Walt would not be please with those folks. I know I 'm sure not.

The poster quoted 5,000 British pounds which is nearly $10,000 ($9,966 to be precise at today's exchange rate).

I might be willing to pay that much for a couple of nights at one of the lodge suites at GF, but that would be a special one-time thing.

OK, let me provide a frame of reference...

for $575 a night, you can rent a private villa in the Caribbean on the island of St John. Your villa would have from 1-3 bedrooms and have a private pool overlooking the Caribbean sea. I am not talking about a condo-villa. I am talking about a private, luxury-rental home on the hillside over a luxuriously tranquil beach where the water is so clear that you can watch the fish swim from your verandah...where nobody can see you skinny-dipping in your private pool.

You would pick fresh fruit from your papaya, banana or passion-fruit plant for your breakfast.

Rather than spending days at the WDW parks, you would spend them on the various white-sand, crystal clear beaches, fringed with palm trees and rum punch drinks. Your children will snorkel, climb sea-grape trees and collect genips to snack on.

Rather than rent the water-mice in the lagoon, you would charter sailboats with captains to take you to islands without docks, where you would rub-shoulders with Kenny Chesney and other celebs looking to remain anonymous amogst people who don't care who they are....because real-life is too good to care about TV and radio people.

The loudest noise you would hear would be the patter of rain on your villa's roof during the 4am rainshower that washes down the island each morning...and your own sigh as you rise to meet the sun over the mountain of the nearest island, dotting the emerald sea before you.

For $575 a night - that's what I'd take!

WOW! From where are you renting villas in St. John? I just checked a couple and for Xmas week they are over $1000 per night.

I agree that $500+ for a Disney resort is outrageous. I've never paid that much for a deluxe Disney resort. However, during Xmas, it's not out of line with other popular vacation destinations. Try a ski vacation over the same week in Colorado---obnoxious pricing. Try renting a home on Wailea Beach in Maui during that week (or any other week of the year!) --also outrageous pricing. A Royal Caribbean cruise in the Easter Caribbean is literally TWICE the price in late December than it is in June.

Sadly, Disney can charge that much because some people are willing to pay it.

We joined DVC to ease the pain of paying cash for rooms, esp. over holidays. Even though the point costs are higher it's still doable with the points we have and really for any member if they want to use their points that way.As we've used our points before over Christmas week and had a great time, I'd not have had a great time if my CC was maxed out and I'd have to worry about paying it off the entire next year. We have a grand villa at OKW this year for 9 people the week BEFORE Christmas which is still alot of points. I can't even imagine what it would've cost me in cash if I even could have found availability which would have been impossible. I know there are lots of people who CAN afford the price of $575 a night and regularly pay that or more for GF concierge, even during value season. Unfortunately that will never, ever be me. ---Kathy

So glad to read all your replies. Was starting to think I wasn't being realistic about what you have to pay to stay at Disney at Xmas. I just don't see how Disney will fill up these rooms at these prices. Am of course hoping they don't and they we will see some good discounts. As I said, SSR was nowhere near capacity when I was there from 19th Dec last year. Also interesting to note that last year I book SSR in March and along with OKW, was the only villa resort available for that week. Have been checking and every villa resort is still available from 17th to 27th this year, even VWL which usually sells out quickly at Xmas.
