Just curious to see what ye olde Dis veterans do!

I have never, and will never, get my own bags. THat defeats the purpose of DME. It's all about that luggage handling for me. There are times when I have carryon only, so that goes with me, obviously.

I hate it when I see families lined up, in the bus line at MCO, with all their checked bags. And as I watch, in amazement, they stand there, afixing the yellow DME tags to their bags while in line. Do people even bother reading the info material in their packets??? Ah well. When guests bring their bags to the bus with them, it slows down the process for everyone.
Of course, there are legitimate reasons for bringing their bags...perhaps they stayed overnight at an airport hotel, or they are international and didn't want to hand their bags over. There are good reasons for bringing bags with you...but for the vast majority, it is simply easier to let DME handle them for you. Pack what you need for that first 6 hrs. of your stay in a carryon bag. It really works out great that way.

I used to let DME handle the bags and if I checked would continue to do that. But generally I do carryon since my Disney stuff is now waiting on me at the resort in my Owner's Locker!

I go to WDW several times a year. I was one of the original guinea pigs that used DME the first few days it was in existence. I always let them deal with my bags. Using them at least four times a year, I've never had a problem. As goofy4tink says picking up your own bags defeats the purpose of DME. I've seen families bring enough bags to the bus to last them for a month. You have to wonder if they left anything at home.:rotfl: It takes time to load and unload all those bags and all of us who used the service as it was intended to be used, are stuck waiting at each stop as the bus driver deals with them. I know there are legitimate reasons why a few do, but if fewer people would bring their bags with them, all of us would get to our resort faster and would be able to get off the bus faster. I've seen alot of the DME drivers stop at the resort, tell guests they'll unload the bags and after the bags are unloaded then they'll let the guests off, then they close the bus doors forcing all of us to wait. After they unload all the luggage for that stop, they then stand at the door with their hands out for a tip. Let me get off the bus and I'll give you tip, but hold me hostage while you unload everyone's belongings and you aren't getting a dang thing.

I love being able to go straight from the plane to DME, without worrying about my bags. I check in at the resort, hop on a bus to a park, and when I come back late that night my bags are waiting just inside the door. Sorry, but I have a hard time understanding why anyone would want to pick up their own checked bags. Again I use DME at least four times a year (sometimes more).

I have used DME a few times a year since it started, always use the bag delivery option and have always been happy with the service.

I agree with the others while DME being free is a bonus the best thing is the luggage service.

I've used DME twice and had great experiences both times. I do a small carry on and that stays with me. Heck, the biggest problem was finding my way thru the terminal to find DME upon landing:goodvibes. It did seem like quite a hike from where I landed. I'll do it again in December. :thumbsup2

Really, the best part of DME is that I don't have to pick up and shlep my bags all over the airport. Love this service!

I've said it before, but I think it bears repeating: The fact that people have no problem turning their luggage over to the airline, but then balk at letting ME take care of it makes no sense to me.

The automatic luggage delivery service offered by DME is so good there is an entire thread devoted to discussions regarding use by guests who don't want to take the bus but still want DME to take care of their bags. Guests who want to rent a car or take a car service but who don't want to bother with baggage claims.
