We have five million cassette tapes between the two of us that we are going to sell (or try) at our yard sale.

Question- what do you think is a good price for them? It's mostly 80's music - some 90's and some 70's rock (Aerosmith, Styx etc)

Or are cassettes so obsolete we might as well trash them?

Thanks for your input!! :)

We just sold a bunch of ours at our yard sale last week. Our intent wasn't to make money, we just wanted to get rid of them, so we sold them for a quarter a piece and we sold quite a bit, I was actually surprised.

Perhaps you could sell them in Bundles (by artist/genre ) on ebay? You would probably get a better price and people will buy anything.

Of course, I've never sold personally so I'm not one to offer help....

I don't really know anything about yard sales, but I would think a 50 cent price is good. I would try to sell them because you never know who's going to want them. I was just going through my basement and found a TON of old tapes. I'm keeping some of them, but not sure what to do with the others. My DH seems to think yard sales are too much work. But, we have so much stuff to get rid of.

having similar dilema,, except mines even farther outdated, has a box of about 500 45's and at least 100 albums that need new homes...lol.. i lknow e bay be better, but not suer i want the hassles:)

I would put them in the yard sale for no more than .50/each. You would be surprised what people will buy. If they are still left at the end of the sale then toss them or send along with everything if you donate to your locate thrift shop the left overs.

unlike tapes, there is actually a market for old records. i collect them -- you might be surprised what you could sell some of them for on ebay.

You guys rock!

Thanks for the quick reply! :)

I'm thinking we will go with the 50¢ each and maybe offer a deal at 5 for $2.00.

Okay you Virginians.. who is coming to my yardsale?? I'll cut you some deals if you help me set up!! :)

Love a good yard sale but not enough to drive the 60 or so mi to Richmond honey!!! I agree with the .50 on the tapes. I have a cassette player in my car and it's a 2000! I'm always on the lookout for cheap cassettes especially those I listened to growing up (Journey, Styxx, Boston etc.)
