Another "What are my Chances" at 7 months thread ...

My travel party will need a 2 bedroom, and we have 3 birthdays in the first two weeks of December, so we're dead set on WDW Dec 1-15 in 2012.
Definitely want to spend one of those weeks at BLT, and have somebody who's tentatively willing to transfer points to me so I can have home resort booking priority there since it looks like those weeks this year are already sold out!
The other week I'd like to spend either at AKV or BCV. I own at VGC which is where we'll go 6 years out of every 7 or so according to DH, so booking at my home resort and then waitlisting really isn't an option, and neither is buying an add-on at Orlando.
Will a 2 bdroom SV be available at the 7 month mark? Will anything at any of the WDW resorts be available at the 7 month mark for those weeks? Is booking really that bad? Why couldn't I have been born in September? Any guidance would be helpful.

The first week of December is a very, very popular time to book. I have always had to use my 11 month window to book during that time. Not much left at the 7 month window. (BTW--Some owners will not even be able to book SV at the 11 month window.)

Tough time of year to get most at the 7 month window. As a matter of fact, the first two weeks of December are difficult to get any time past the 11 month window. Most likely you will have to waitlist. If you are looking at going this year, you will probably already need to waitlist. You might luck out and find something at OKW or SSR. If so, grab it and waitlist for your favorite. But I wouldn't get my hopes up. It might be helpful if you are open to moving your dates around.

I definitely think your best bet will be to get points transferred in to your account for a WDW resort for this trip.

It is very busy and waiting until the 7 month mark may get you a very piecemeal vacation where you will have to move several times, especially given that you are there for 2 weeks.

SV at BLT the 1st 2 weeks of Dec is normally gone by 10am on the 11 month day. I would say it is mostly impossible at 7 months. LV might come through on a waitlist at 7 months especially if owners choose to change resorts at 7 months.

You should be able to get something as long as you are willing to move at 7 months. If you wanted to stay only 1-2 places your best bet is the longest portion at SS and then taking anything else you can get for the rest of it. Since you don't own in FL you will probably need to be ready to spend your Dec trips at SS most of the time.

OP here. Definitely planning on renting somebody's points for the 11 month window for a week at BLT-Lake View in 2012, but can only do one transfer ... don't want to spend 2 weeks at BLT, just one.
So you're (collectively) saying Savannah View at AK will be most likely sold out at 11 months? I guess we could be okay at Saratoga Springs for the other week. Surely SS isn't sold out at 7 months?

I would get the transfer and then at 7 mos you can probably get AKV kidani or SSR, OKW.

Since you don't come that often....maybe the 2nd week....worst case scenerio you can try 2 other places if you can't get a week together. Moving is easy if you plan a park day and just go back to hotel end of day to checkin new place.

So follow up question ... if I wanted to 'walk' that week that I'm trying for at 7 months, how far out should I start trying for Dec 1 reservation? Thanksgiving? Day after Thanksgiving? Sooner in November? So I would call, say April 25 or so and book 5 nights for Nov 25-Dec 1 when what I really want is Dec 1-6 and just call back everyday to move it back one day?

I think you'll be able to get into AKV at the 7 month mark. At 6 months, I was able to get a standard view stuido for 4 nights in December, the second week. I couldn't get value, but savannah was also available, in Jambo, that's where I was interested in. I know you want a 2 bedroom, but I think if you call exactly 7 months out, you'll get one.
