Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

I agree about the categories being confusing and in fact I wrote to them to ask about the tools and they told me that when they review the videos they also review the categories you place them in and put them in the correct category, so I would say we may not be ending up with the money we think we will anyway because they could just move them to the 2 dollar category if they choose to do so. :confused3

So you sent in 100 and they have only approved 5!!! Why is that:confused3 We haven't started yet, just signed up last night and I am so excited about it, I sure hope it pays off!!!
Lesley

It can take several weeks to get them approved I guess. . . I haven't had any rejected yet, so hopefully the will be approved eventually. :hourglass

Is this how the rest of you did it as well? Did any of them get approved this way? So did can you do it for each resort you've been to? Like could I do one for WL, one for POP and one for POFQ? Or is Disney just one destination??
Thanks!!!
Lesley

I think from what I read in Mellie's post on their forum, they would like to be able to see you in the photos to be sure they are your photos. Mermaid86 was in the photos she showed in her nice review of Epcot.

I also think you can chop up a Disney vacation into many many reviews. I think the resort room is one review in itself. The resort grounds could be another, the main pool and quiet pools, etc. Just my take on it.

I have stuck to reviewing something that automatically comes up in the $10 catagory. I started with vsmile games, wasn't sure if they were toys or video games, but they came up in the toy catagory. If it doesn't come up in their system I am assuming it will be $2.

I have the same paypal question, if that is the way they do it I will have a problem because my Paypal acct. is different from my email address I am using for Expotv. Hi, Expo pays you through the email address you gave them when you signed up. You need to give expo your paypal email address OR you can go to your paypal account and add the expo email address you are using now, to your paypal account (that's what I did). Once that email address is verified, you are fine. I would do this well before you anticipate getting paid by expo.

That was my take on it too. They have to be sure its you. I would think just holding them up to the camera to show them would be ok. Ive also thought about putting a home video on my tv and sitting next to that and doing the review as well, but I dont know if its going to show up or just be a glare so I will have to play around with that as well.

I wouldn't think you could seperate the parts of the resort into different reviews, but thats just my opinion. I would think the grounds and the pool would just fall under the resort itself.

I think expo needs to expand the $10 / $2 lists with many sub categories like ebay does. That way we won't find we have a heck of a lot more $2 reviews than we had planned on. I'd like them to clear this up because we could be playing a whole new ballgame in Sept, so I'd like to get some $10 reviews up there before they are no longer $10 reviews. ;)

arrrrgrgggggg. I think I'm begining to hate expo. As I said in my long post before... Expo had a blender in the home and garden section as opposed to kitchen and houseware-- so I put it in the kitchen category. If they try to tell me that a blender is not a small appliance used in the KITCHEN, I may petition! lol.

what about restaurants?? I only have two places at WDW where I took pictures, but I am in the pics... think those classify as destinations??

Everyone is mentioning specific toys they found on a list, where do you find that specific list? I would love to know that before I randomly review toys/games in our house, I want 10 only ones. Thanks
Lesley

The four I uploaded on Aug 1, were still in the "preview not available" status until this morning, Aug 3. Now they are in the normal preview status, so don't worry, looks like expo is way way behind in viewing. I can't imagine how much time that must take. Hey, I wonder if they're hiring?! lol

Thanks I feel better now-;) I'll work for them- maybe the employees can get into the site faster then we laymen or (lay women as it may be! )

I would think they'd have to pull all the reviews of those recalled toys.

I hope not- I already reviewed some of those toys- if they do their research, they will see that the recall only involved those toys purchased AFTER May 1st through Aug- I checked all of our toys- had 4 but they were all bought before Easter and the recall model numbers were fine - I'd realy be fit to be tied if they just went off and didn't check and took those reviews away- it's hard enough to just get them to upload the videos without having them acting without researching about the recall-:confused3 FP will most likely be replacing these toys with their old manufacturer- they are not expensive and were good sellers-

Ah, you're right. I didn't even think about the toys made before May 1.
I wasn't thinking when I posted. tink

I don't see why you can't do the WDW restaurants. Expo said no fast food places, so that would leave out McD's in downtown disney and any other McD's on property... but not sure where they draw the line. I guess we will find out as we go along. tink

Hmm but what about the restaraunts IN the resorts...would that come under resorts or seperate? I would think it would have to be included in the resort review.

Who knows- I don't have any say anyway :cutie: , I do know that only the toys with the recall numbers were pulled from our toy store- but as a parent who worries about every little thing,- I know that I wouldn't buy those particular toys as new right now, just in case they needed to expand the recall- I don't think most of the time- that's my natural state of exsistance!:goodvibes

I'm just frustrated with Expo because I desperatedly need that money right now and I can't work out of the home due to all three of the kids being special needs/medically unstable on any given day - I was so excited to finally find something that I could do to earn a little money and I've been quite distressed with the whole operation this week-

My DH came home from work yesterday and the FIRST thing he said was, " How many videos did you get uploaded?" I told him only 2 and he said - "ok then, I guess we'll order pizza in tonight- nobody bother Mommy- she's frustrated!"

He has already learned that if Mommy can't get her videos uploaded, that she is pouty! Life's too short- I need to try to relax and go with the flow :hippie:

I was playing around with "uploading" before I actually did it and found out you can go through all the steps to the end where you upload, without actually uploading. So, you could play around and put in names of toys and see if they come up on ExpoTv's Automated list...which will then automatically put it in a catagory. Does that make sense?:)

 Dont give up just yet. I started on July 1 and I found it difficult to upload almost that entire first week, but during the middle weeks of the month it became much more easy and stress free. I also find uploading late at night a help too, but thats just my schedule im on. I know what you mean about needing this money, so keep trying. I would do as many vids as you can and then try to do all your uploading in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully they will get the site running better by then. :wizard:

very cool. it appears that bionicles fall in the kids toys category and it looks like you can choose the different ones...so ...dh is going to be reviewing a buttload of bionicles this month...

so i lied, i dont have only 2 :cool1: I did reviews on California Grill, Crystal Palace, and Princess StoryBook Breakfast and will get DBF to do Sci-Fi and Coral Reef. They better take them, I'll be livid if I just lost out on $50 because they reject them and I cant do another 5 to make up for them. BUt like you said... they def arnt fastfood... I would hope since they are unique restaurants they will be OK.

How do you find you guys on expotv?

I've signed up, and I do have loads of spare time at work to view videos and rate them to give the disboard posters ratings and hopefully money.

I can do the videos at home since my digital camera does video, too. Uploading should be easy, but I'm still learning how to navigate on the site itself.

I am user : Ursula if that helps
