Hi guys! I did search this but no luck!

We are planning on going to DL in 7 months and 2 days and hoping to stay at VGC. We are going for 3 nights (Sat-Tues, 2/7-2/10). I see now I can book Thur-Tues and I know I can call in a few days and cancel the first two nights that I don't need (right?).

I have 218 available 2014 March UY points. The 5 night stay is 173 points- so no banking/borrowing needed. My question is, when I cancel those first two nights, those 71 points return to 2014, correct? Can I still bank them into 2015?

Thanks in advance!

I've done the same at VGC - I wanted Saturday to Friday or Sunday to Friday. Friday to Friday was available, so I booked it and then a few days later cancelled the extra day or days and they were returned to the current year to be banked. This isn't truly "walking" since you are not cancelling and adding at the same time.

Glad to hear this worked out for the OP.

For the benefit of other readers, walking a reservation is generally an ineffective strategy at seven months, since the room type you want could be booked at any time by home resort owners.

Walking reservations is usually effective for highest demand lodging at eleven months (AKV concierge is a good example). For the vast majority of reservations, walking isn't necessary, and only makes the already-unacceptable phone wait times longer for everyone.
