Another Visa Rewards Question

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to use my Disney Visa reward points. Is this plan feasable?

I buy Disney Dollars with the points at a local Disney store. I've read they the lowest they sell is $5. Is that correct? What happens when you need to get change? Do they round to a dollar amount?

Ok, then I take the Disney Dollars to Disney World. Can I then trade them back in for regular money? I really don't get the idea of Disney Dollars. I was going to use them for paying a little extra tip on the dining plan, but I'd need singles, not fives.

Anyone see any problems with this?

Thanks!

Disney does sell $1 Disney Dollar bills, as well as $5 and $10.

If you get Disney Dollars to spend in WDW, they are pretty much accepted anywhere on Disney property for your purchases. If your purchase is $3.20 and you give them a $10 Disney Dollar, you will get $6.70 in $USD back. However, you cannot trade the Disney Dollars in for cash unless you paid for them in cash and have the receipt.

You can use them for souvenir purchases, snacks or your hotel bill if you're staying at a Disney Resort. I would probably not use them for tip money as most servers would appreciate Uncle Sam's currency instead, since the grocer, mortgage company and local Hess station don't take Mickey Money.
