J started his day spewing-- ewwww.

N invited himself to go with us shopping, giving J a chance to rest without all of our noise.

E bought a lab coat and safety glasses, he starts doing labs for his classes this week. :goodvibes There was some confusion when he tried getting a hold of the district Science mentor. The mentor thought E was a long term sub for the year, didn't return emails.. phone calls.. etc until another supervisor stepped in to say what is your problem? :headache:

Now adding as I was interrrupted...
E had been using state standards, two different lesson plans (7th grade life science, 8th grade earth science) as the district does not have a set curriculum/book to follow. Mentor finally gts in contact, finds out hubby is acually a science teacher, asks "are you ready to do labs?"

umm yeah???

And brought over a kit for Properties of Matter that costs $3400, this he will use for 12 weeks with BOTH grade levels and switch to another kit on Energy. Apparently, this particular school uses three kits per year, next year he will have different kits.

The problem I see is that for a district this mobile (low income families tend to move frequently), how does the district make sure all students get the required state standards?? Standards that will be testable in the next year. (Just like reading and math skills, MN will have a standards based science test to track student progress .. call it an ehanced No child Left Behind testing).

Not to mention, if the school had a long term sub for the year, there would not have been any science curriculum taught. Mentor believes that temp teachers will not care for the equipment-- so why bother?

ummm because the students need it??

No wonder Mpls students perform poorly on MCAs (state testing), have the highest drop out rate and the lowest college bound population of students.

No one cares.

Nothing say's hubba hubba like a man in lab coat and safety glasses.;)

Hello Hyenas,

Wow, our thread has not been very active! I need to make a priority list for all of us! ;) J/k!

Friday night- I did a ton of laundry at my parents house. I sorted the whites in one hamper and the dark clothes in another hamper. Our dryer has a broken belt and the repairman can't come back until Wednesday. :faint: My parents have a cool washer and dryer. It's an LG brand and you just press buttons and it even has a timer that shows you how many more minutes are left until it's finished. I thought it was really cool. :rotfl:

I went to Macy's to get some standard/queen sized Martha Steward pillows. They were marked down from $60 to $29 for a set of two. It's hypo-allergenic and is made for allergy sufferers and also people who sleep on their back. I also got 4 pillow cases. They were $85/EA and they were marked down to $14.99 and $11.99. I paid for it all with a gift card I had got for Christmas. :woohoo: :yay:

Headed back to my parents house and played Guitar Hero with my little sister while waiting for the laundry to finish.

Yesterday my bf and I went to the mall. He purchased a leather Guess jacket from Macy's a few days ago and it wasn't on sale. We see the same one and luckily my bf brought the tag from the jacket. We used their price check machine and the jacket was now on sale 75% off! I asked the cashier if we needed to bring the item for a price adjustment and they said no, just bring the receipt to any Macy's store (we didn't have it with us at the time).

They completely remodeled part of the mall and I had not seen it. It actually looks nice compared to before. We went to a Pac Sun store and I scored a hoodie for $11! It was 50% off but they said it was on sale for even less. My bf got 2 hoodies on sale as well.

After the mall we headed to the Camarillo Outlet. My bf bought some clothes that were on sale at Guess. He got a jacket that was 50% off and a nice shirt and sweater. I was basically just picking out clothes that he may like. "What do you think of this shirt? It's kinda cool" and then he would look at it and say: "Yeah it is!" I was just supervising. :rotfl:

I stopped at the Juicy Couture outlet store but didn't see anything good.

Headed back home and my bf got the Macy's receipt and tag for that one jacket. We went to another Macy's which is close by and they did the price adjustment for him. :thumbsup2 My bf got a Guess sweater that was marked down from $70 to $17.99. :woohoo:

I hope you guys have a good day today! princess:

Hello. I'm sitting in the drive-thru waiting for my lunch. DBF and I had fun in Phoenix. We went to the Phoenix Zoo yesterday. I'm so tired. We didn't sleep much and we didn't get home until after 1:00am last night, or I guess it was this morning. Hope you are all doing good!

Well I'm glad you are okay. :flower3:

We need to set up a telephone tree.... PM tree?... :confused3 for when you pop out the lil aliens. That way if you go POOF on us, we will know why. :thumbsup2

:goodvibes mmm, I made a faked out tortilla soup (crushed chips in bottom of the bowl) .. mmmmm I'm grooving on it.

Goes well with the wind and snow outside, I seriously thought they would send the kidlet home early as it was thick and furious all daylong. But this is the metro area .. school closures are a rare breed.

I have already instructed Frelan to pop on and give out the news.... And I will take my phone list with me to the hospital so I can call at least SOMEONE, if it happens to suddenly for one of us to jump on the computer. Im willing to bet Ill be induced though. I dont know why, Im only 29 weeks.. but I am feeling very discouraged about going into labor on my own. :rotfl2: how stupid is that? I have WEEKS before I have to worry about it.
