hi guys, its me...just got out of the hospital...which totally sucked. I am not a fun patient (or so I am told)on the upside, I lost 16 pounds, and my ear has no more blood..oh, and I can swallow better... I got an email about Staley and the babies..good job girl..

Yeah its been nuts. Also working at my moms store is hectic but I guess that is life.

Morgans solo is this weekend. She is ready but nervous. We had to piece together a costume because hers did not come in. Its all good though.

Also, I've decided not to go to nursing school and do my other choice. I'm going to get my degree in early childhood education. I think I would be a great teacher. I'm going with that. My stomach doesnt feel so upset as it did when I was thinking about nursing.

Wish Morgan good luck, she'll be just fine when she gets on stage.

It is ~ wait for it... ~ raining! I know, you are all shocked beyond belief, right?

I want to kill DS4. Well, I want him not to be dead, but I want to scare the living daylights out of him, I want to knock some sense into him, I want to squeeze him and hug him and yell at him until I can't yell anymore.

I put him to bed (in our bed) for nap, and about 15 minutes later he came running into the office, sputtering and spitting and almost gagging. I asked him what was wrong, and he didn't speak, just kept spitting and trying to rub his tongue.

I hopped up and ran to him, and noticed a very strong cologne type odor, and asked a little more insistently, "What's wrong? What is it? What did you do???" He turned around and ran back to the bedroom, so I followed.

He threw down a broken glass cologne sample bottle, and in the middle of the bed I found damp, smelly spots and tiny bits of glass!

I shrieked, "You bit this? You bit into this? Why would you do that? That's not safe, honey! That's dangerous! This is glass, it could kill you!"

I managed to calm down a bit, then asked, "Did you get any of this in your mouth? Did you swallow any of this?" He shook his head no. "Are you sure? I want you to be safe, honey. Are you sure?" He nodded his head vigorously.

Ohhhhhh lord. At least three new gray hairs sprouted today, I am positive.

As a Nurse I must post this.....many are not aware of this but being a nurse I am so I will share it.....see it helps to have a nurse in hyenas


Pediatricians once recommended Ipecac be kept in the home as a ready emetic for use in cases of accidental poisoning.[1] Current guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics, however, strongly advise against this and in fact recommend the disposal of any syrup of Ipecac present in the home.[2] Many toxicological associations have also issued position papers recommending against its use as a first-line treatment for most ingested poisons.[3], because:

1. There has been no evidence that syrup of Ipecac actually helps improve the outcome in cases of poisoning.
2. Administering syrup of Ipecac can delay administering more effective treatments, such as activated charcoal and/or antidotes.
3. The effects of the Ipecac itself can be mistaken for the effects of the poisoning.
4. Accidental overdose of Ipecac can result when administered in the home.[4]

A 2005 review by an HRSA-funded scientific panel concluded that vomiting alone does not reliably remove poisons from the stomach. The study suggested that indications for use of Ipecac syrup were rare and patients should be treated by more effective and safer means. Additionally, Ipecac’s potential side effects, such as lethargy, can be confused with the poison’s effects, complicating diagnosis. Ipecac may also delay the administration or reduce the effectiveness of other treatments such as activated charcoal, whole bowel irrigation, or oral antidotes.[5]

My lower back area is a bit sore for the chair I have at work. I brought an elephant shaped pillow to help support my back. Two other co-workers of mine also have the same problem and have pillows on their chairs.

I know it adds up, but large offices should budget to have better chairs for their employees. You spend all day at your desk hunched over a computer, a bad chair just leads to bad back problems.

I can honestly say that my boys never tried anything like that. They did try mushrooms from our yard, and that was quite an ordeal!!!

DS4 must have thought there was some good juice in there or something?

I was wondering about that..I vaguely remember reading it somewhere.. I know they didn't use it when one of my DN got into a medication. The EMTs discussed possibly administering it enroute. They did the activated charcoal/ NG tube and hospitalized overnight.

Word of warning with holidays approaching.. ask family to please secure any medications they have in their bags. Pharmacies try to be kind to the elderly and DON'T always put safety caps on all meds, we found that out the hard way. He was okay, but it could have been fatal. (Diabetic med)

Oddly enough, they still require child care (in MN) to stock it in emergency first aid kits.
We had to make labels to state "Only use on advice of poison control"
