As a lot of you know I have been doing Atkins for years... I lost over 125 pounds but at that point I lost my way. I couldn't seem to get serious about it to really lose the rest of the weight I would like to lose. I think I was really burnt on the whole thing.
The good news was I did enough that I only gained about 20 pounds back.
I have preached on these boards many times, if something doesn't work, don't get depressed TRY SOMETHING ELSE!!!!
I kind of figured it was time to take my own advice.
I had been hearing a bit about the "South Beach Diet". I started to study it a bit and it really caught my interest. First of all, this diet is NOT anti-Atkins. In fact the more I look at it, it almost seems like an evolution of Atkins. The author acknowledges Dr. Atkins and says he respects and admires him.
It is, however, very different than Atkins. There is a 2 week induction period but it is not carb free. He preaches eating the "right" carbs.
One of the problems with Atkins was that DW had no luck on it so she was doing WW. I showed her this diet and she thought it looked pretty good. I was getting tired of cooking 2 different meals all the time.
So one day last week I took off for the grocery store and away we went. So far it's been good. I lost 6 pounds in less than a week. I was really suprised by that. It's not really a hard diet to follow.
The people that are doing veggy atkins or just feel it is unhealthy should really take a look at this.
Like they say on the South Beach Diet boards... see you on the beach!
