Another TMI thread: Is it bad to get pregnant soon after a D&C?

I think its depends how soon. When we had a miscarriage in April 1999 and I had to have a d&c, my dr said not to get pg for 2 months. I didnt think it would be an issue because it had taken me 4 yrs to get pg that time. Well I ended up getting pg 6 weeks later. I didnt have any problems, thank God.

Much of the concern is maternial health, it can be a bit hard on your body- and a baby will get priority over a mother (biologically) nature protects the baby. My mother had a D&C way back when and was preg. a month later. That would be my older brother. He and she were both perfectly well.
Make sure to take your vitamins.

Depends on what the D&C was for. If it was for miscarriage, it is usually recommended that you wait 3 months to be sure that it wasn't a rare type called a molar pregnancy, which can occasionally can become cancerous. If not, it's usually recommended to wait just one month, a normal cycle in other words. Sometimes it can jumpstart fertility though, not uncommon for women to get pregnant right after a D&C.

Depending upon how extensive the procedure, you might have trouble getting pregnant until you are completely healed. The egg might not be able to adhere well. Best to take care of yourself & rest up so you can heal quickly!

I had a molar pregnancy and my oncologist and my ob/gyn both told me to wait a year. It was also very clear that I had a molar pregnancy. I had a D & C and I had to have methotrexate (light chemo) shots because even after that my hormone levels continuted to rise. i couldn't get pregnant for a year after my HcG level was at 0 for 3 weeks.

Long story short, a molar and a miscarriage are different things (I've experienced both). I dont want people who miscarry to freak out.

I got preganant 1 period after my D & C for a misscarriage. My daughter is now 8 years old!!!! I, too, was told to wait but it took a while to get pregnant and I really didn't think it would happen so soon again!! It did and we are all happy!!!!
