I have the richard petty thing scheduled for my dh at 8:00 on a wednesday. I am planning on sending him early and then my girls and i would catch up with him about 9:30 or so...we would like to see him drive. We also have a ps for the princess lunch in norway at 12. Is this enough time? The driving thing is supposed to last a total of 3 hours, so that would make it 11 (give or take a few) when we left the speedway.
Am i allowing enough time, and how exactly should we get there, we will have a car, but i would probably make dh get to the speedway another way(i don't know how, any ideas would be nice), and the girls and i would drive to the track and then all of us would go to epcot in the car.

Is there an easier way, or would driving to the speedway and then to epcot be ok? I just want to make sure i fulfill both my dh's need to drive a stock car, and my 4 year old's desire to see live princesses!

Thank You!

It will depend on the class size at the RPDE as to how long your husband will be tied up. When my husband did this in 2003, I know it didn't take all that long & we had most of the day ahead of us. I just don't remember exactly what time we were finished.

He will start off with some training, laps around the track in the van & then be put in a driving order. Not until all participants have completed their laps will they move on to the "closing ceremonies."

Another factor is what program each driver is doing ie: the 8 lap program or the longer ones -- up to 20 I think. They only run 2 cars at a time.

I would suggest giving them a call directly & getting an estimate of how long their morning sessions typically run. Keep in mind it will be a best guestimate & other factors, like weather, could effect the outcome as well.

As far as travel, I know that a RPDE van picks up participants at the TTC but your husband would have to get a way there. Maybe using a taxi would be the best bet.

Good luck in planning it all out. Hope your husband loves it as much as mine did. And we all -- kids included -- enjoyed watching too. They make it a lot of fun at WDW's track.
