What if everything was the same, except the OP were hosting an adult bowling party and Mary's mom was finally calling 4 days late for herself? The other thread seems to be focused on not disappointing Mary, what if it were the adult that was finally calling late and wanted to come AND needed a ride? And it would cost OP 5X as much to add her back to the guest list because she already gave the space away to a remote friend.

Let it die...let the thread die....:lmao:

Tough call on that one--the b-day parties around here are for the kids. But again, my discretion is with the host or hostess to determine if the late RSVP is inconvenient.

I had a late RSVP to my wedding--in fact, it was a relative who had not been invited and had brought her three children. We had room b/c we paid for X and less than X was coming--but it was very inappropriate. As it stands, auntie was invited was livid when she and her daughter and grandkids were sat at a particular table. She felt they were outcasts.

While it certainly wasn't intentional to treat her as an outcast let alone have it come across that way, when your RSVP changes from 1 to 5....not sure what else to have done.:confused3

Again--failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part. I planned based on the RSVP's and if you got po'd b/c I was stuck in a firm price/numbers situation...that's your problem. That's called life.

I actually don't know why I started this up in a different context. My other fun thread was closed so I guess I don't have anything better to do!

Did the RSVP thread get closed? I haven't even looked at it in the past 5 hours.

We can let this thread die, I really don't care...

My response would be the same as the other thread.. If a definite number has to be turned in by a certain date and the "responder" misses that date, the host/hostess should not feel obligated to make any changes..
