Another switching resorts question

I know that Disney will transport your luggage from one Disney Resort to the other Disney resort, but exactly how is this done ? I will be staying, without a car, at POR for three nights, and then BWV for three nights. I want to check *OUT*
of POR, and then immediately check *INTO* BWV. I was thinking of checking out, then taking the boat to Downtown Disney, then taking the bus to the Boardwalk, while Disney transports the luggage. Do you think this is the easiest way to do this ? Does Disney ever transport the people With
the luggage ? My trip will be solo.

I definitely don't think Disney transports people with the luggage. The luggage transport is not an immediate thing. It is taken from your room to a storage area at your resort then moved (I presume with other people's luggage) later. You send it away in the morning and it is supposed to arrive at the other resort that afternoon -- I can't remember what time they say, 3 or 4 p.m. You are definitely homeless and without your stuff for a few hours. We always go to a park and check in at the new resort during our afternnoon break.

The problem I see with your plan of "checking out of one resort and immediately checking in to another" is that most check-out times are 10 or 11 AM while check-in times are usually 3 or 4 PM. You could possible have a 4 - 6 hour wait time in between (although it could be much shorter, depending on availability). This is the time period where your luggage is (most-likely) transferred between the two resorts.

The only other suggestion would be to take a cab with your luggage to the BWV's. You may get lucky and get your room right away.

however we checked into akl at 12:30 so you might get lucky. But our luggage didn't arrive until 3:30 which is a fairly typical transfer time for them.

Thanks everyone.

I forgot to mention...I know that there will be a time lag from checking out of one place, and into
another. When I mean check-in to the Boardwalk, I mean the check-in counter, not necessarily the actual room. After formal check-in, I intend to run over to Epcot for the day, and then later, see what room they gave me.

This will be the first week of December. It seems *SO* far away.
I just can't wait !

Stick around here, Claudia, and it'll be here before you know it!;)

And, yes, your check-in idea will work!

But, I'd just take a cab and take my luggage with me.
Would save alot of time, over taking a boat and then a bus.:sunny:

At the risk of sounding like a broken record...

My luggage was "lost" for several hours while a WDW resort was supposed to be transferring it from point A to point B. It was not known for some time which of 10+ resorts it *might have been* delivered to. It was recovered later that evening, with much poking and prodding by management at the resort I had checked into.

After that experience, my luggage goes with me, even if I need to pay for a cab. At least if you know your luggage was checked with the hotel you're checking into, it's there. not someplace in the 47 square miles WDW calls home.
