Hi does anyone know that if a flight shoes up unavailable on the web site if it will ever become available?

2> i have already booked my flight but want to leave earlier on my departure from Orlando back to chicago yet there were no flights available, if one becomes available do i have to cancel the ENTIRE reservation? or can i only cancel the last leg? Because i am SOO happy wiht my chicago to Orlando flight..thanks!

Is the entire flight unavailable or just the discounted fares? If the discounted fares are unavailable it's unlikely that SW will open up seats for discounting.

If all the fare classes are unavailable you'll see availability as passengers cancel and change their flights. The problem is you may have to book one or two seats at a time and gamble splitting your family. You're probably stuck with your original flights.

What are your dates?

Blahhh! haha but thanks for that! it's the last four columns of fares that are unavailable i think all that is left is like the rack rate that is refundable..

Oh well...we just have a 6am flight back to chicago and with DME and a baby we have to leave POP at 3 i bet or something that outrageous...and we called Mears and they told us 330 so it's not any better and renting a car woul d only buy us about 45 minutes or so..we really wanted to have at least half the day there..we even checked the day before and day after it's TOTALLY sold out....oh well! thanks again!

I just checked the fun fare is available for the 7:50p N/S flight, $117. If you want the extra time it might be worth the extra $$$. I wouldn't expect the lower fares will open up.

It looks like your flight is scheduled to leave at 6:50a so DME will pick you up at about 4:00a.

I agree with Lewis, based on what you are posting and seeing it sounds like SW has SOLD those tickets and probably won't release any cheaper fares on those flights. That said keep watching sometimes you get lucky. I once checked and saw nothing checked back an hour later and a seat was open, grabbed it, never saw it again

Why not call SWA 24 hours in advance of your departure and ask if you can give up your seat for another on a later flight? This option maybe attractive to the both of you.

SW doesn't normally do that. OP would have to pay the fare difference between what they're paying and the fully refundable fare.

If OP is still reading this thread, if you make the change you might ask to have your reservation split. Carol got lucky, you might but only for one passenger. With other airlines you have to pay the difference fare and something like a $50 change fee. I don't think you'll have to pay much more than $50/ticket to change your flight.

Lewis has a good point. It's easier with just one passenger! You probably aren't likely to get two are three seats. I didn't think about that.

I just asked them this.

I have a flight booked going out on Sept. 30 and going back to BWI on 10/2. When I booked it, the only thing available on 10/2 were early morning flights. Noon was the latest, so I booked that one

Last week a DING fare came out for October 2 and they had later flights available. September 30 was not eligible for the DING fare so I couldn't apply that to my entire reservation.

When I called the service rep said that 1) no, I couldn't cancel the October 2 noon flight by itself, but 2) if I wanted to book the DING one way, and just not show up for the noon flight, I would get a credit for the return on the first reservation once it was determined that I'd missed it.

I don't know if this is for real, but right now I am booked on both a 12 noon and 4:15 flight on October 2 and intend to show up for the 4:15, not the noon.

If it doesn't work out, I'm out whatever the October 2 noon flight cost. If I get a credit, fine. The service rep assured me that they give credit for no shows.

I'm just one person, so other traveling parties may not want to risk this without confirmation from someone who's actually done it and gotten the credit. That won't be me until after October 2.

Hi, I have done this twice, had a "double" booking and just not show for one flight. You will get the credit. :cool1: You can access the credit under the original confirmation #,and under SW funds(or something like that). Joan

thank you Joan...I love Southwest. If I lived closer to BWI I'd fly them all the time, but National and Dulles are better for me.

Hi everyone,
I also have a question about unavailable flights. We have a return flight booked at $79, however, now the lowest fare for all flights that day are $69
(we have 4 fares at $79). But, the particular flight we're on is showing as unavailable. We want to stay on that flight and already have 4 fares purchased, but, since it's unavailable how can I change to the lowered fare without risking losing the ressie. Usually I just go into the system and change it to the lower fare, but, I don't think that can be done without cancelling the ressie since that category is unavailable and if I do cancel I'm afraid I won't be able to get $69 fare since it's showing unavailable. Does this make sense to anyone? Has anyone been able to do this in the past? I already made the change for the trip down since it was a separate ressie due to SW schedule not available for return at time of original ressie. But, that was no problem since all fares on that flight were available. Anyone have an answer? Thanks!!!

You only get a credit if there are seats available in the fare bucket. The lowest fare isn't $69 if SW shows it as unavailable. Sounds like you get to pick, the flight you want or the fare you want.

If the flight you are on is showing unavailable on the $69 fare then you can't change to that fare on that flight. You are correct you will not be able to get it. You would have to select a NEW flight where the $69 is avaialble.

Thank you everyone for the info! i've had a crazy weekend, so sorry i've been MIA and not able to respond sooner! i kinda figured i would be S.O.L but i htought someone would know for sure :)

Oh well at least i am going to Disney world! and we are seriously considering buying that 117$ fare i am waiting for my DH to get back to me about it..

Thanks again!

I agree with the others who answered your question EXCEPT: Are the $69 fares listed under Promotional or Internet? I would call SW if they are Promotional fares, and see whether you can get the credit. A few weeks ago I had the same situation, I had booked both flights at $79 and then they came out with $69 Promotional fares. Only the departing flight was showing available, but I figured I would still save $50 (5 tickets). I called SW and asked for a credit and she said "Congratulations, you just saved $100"! She gave me credit for the return flight too, even though it wasn't showing at available. Another time I had called when a lower Internet fare became available, but was told I could not get that fare by phone only online, hence the name.
