Ok...so I'm not THAT fat...I only weigh around 150 lbs but I look much heavier because I am short (only 5 ft 4 in bare feet)with short, stumpy little tree legs. I'm just afraid I"ll get on the boat and see all these fit soccermommies(and daddies!)and crew members around me and feel out of place because I am heavy. I am on a diet and exercising but that's no guarentee I"ll look like Britney Spears in time for my cruise next March.

You will see all sizes, shapes and ages on board. Trust me, everyone does not look like the passengers on the video, commercials or in the brochure -- they're actors!

Relax and have a great trip!

I certainely hope that's true, CSX2 . The video I got had me worried! I don't look like that and I never will! Never have!
Even though we are going to most likely book this cruise as soon as our tax refund comes in...it makes me nervous to think if I don't lose the amount of weight I want to lose(30 lbs)by the time we go on the cruise,I'll look out of place because of my giant bubble butt and thunder thighs.
Plus...will everybody laugh at my little black one piece bathingsuit with the skirt on? I am 24 but I feel like 50 a lot of the times(long story).

I haven't cruised yet, but have avidly poured over many posters cruise photos with great interest and anticipation.... And, from the looks of the folks hanging out enjoying the pool decks, you will fit in perfectly!

There was the most wonderful thread about this a few months ago.... where everyone was discussing 'fluffy people'. Hey, it is a Disney Cruise. And, if my instincts are right, not all moms are thin, model-beautiful, soccer moms! Now, Cancun at Spring Break - young, thin, tan, college co-eds.... THAT'S another story!

Buy that new swimsuit, and enjoy! :D

I can really relate to the OP! I am very concerned about how I will be perceived by others on our upcoming cruise in November. I have joined the wonder WISH board and started working out with The Firm vidoes. I know I won't reach my goal weight by the cruise but I want to feel comfortable in my bathing suit (and it will be a one piece with the little flowing skirt :D). To the original poster, I hope you have an awesome cruise!

i came back from the disney cruise in october.you do not have to worry.pasengers are all different shapes and sizes and nobody is going to look at you.everybody is there to have fun.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :jester:

A Cruise or any vacation is YOUR time. Don't worry what other people will think or say. Just be yourself, relax and have a good time. If people resort to laughing at others because of appearances then those people certainly need to get a life of their own and they are a very sorry lot. No matter what your size, hold your head up high and have fun! You deserve it as much as the next person does.

Even according to slim fast's web site at 150 you are only seven pounds overweight. There are all sorts of shapes on the cruise. My first cruise I tipped the scales over 200 pounds... by the third cruise I was under 180 hope to be 150 by number four but if not who cares? Go and have fun! Here is the link for slim fasts website so you can see you are not FAT at all..shame on you :)

Actually,Ann,I've BEEN on slimfast for the last year and dropped 25 lbs.:) Yay for me! I'm going to try and continue that wonderful drop until I hit 120-125.
I live in an area where we are very fashion concious and having the media thrust Britney,Christina Aguilera and Shakira with all their hip-swiveling,low-riding jeans wearing, giant boobed,half-shirtedness doesn't help me either.
I've had an image problem for a long, long time and it's taking me forever to get over it. When I was a kid, even though I wasn't heavy, my parents would tease me and call me "Shamu" like the killer whale at Sea World. There were also times when they would smack food out of my hands and tell me I was too fat!
No wonder I have food problems. I was never anorexic but I do binge eat too much for my own good. :(
I'm trying to stop...I really am. If cigarettes weren't so bad for me(or so expensive!)I'd take up smoking again. Smoking kept me thin...I was at my thinniest (115) when I was smoking. It's just a shame it's such a horrible thing that gives you cancer.:(
Oh well...thanks guys.
I'm glad not EVERYONE on board looks like a Victoria's Secret model.:p

Believe me, you will see all shapes and sizes on the cruise, and the majority are not going to have perfect bodies. Also, this is not a cruise where people are checking each other out in their bathing suits, they are too busy having fun or making sure their kids are in view! You will find that in port they sell -- oh, darn, what are those wraps called that look like huge scarves again? -- well, you know what I mean. I saw a lot of women wearing those as cover-ups when they weren't in the water, a good way to hide our not-so-perfect points when we are feeling self-conscious. :)

Come on the October 11, 2003 cruise. I'm hoping to weigh 150 pounds by then but certainly don't at the moment.

Have to admit that it's taken me quite a while to accept the extra weight but I've come to realize that it's not my problem but other people's problem if they don't like me because I'm not a size 5. I'm not a different person because of the extra weight but if they can't see that then who cares about them. Gained weight when I had my son and just never lost it and then gained more when I went through a divorce -- big snack eater at that time although I'm trying to curb that now.

Good luck on your weight loss but don't stress over it.

Disney Researcher-
I was just under 200lbs on my first cruise in September. I had lost 25 lbs before and felt the same way as you (I am only 4'11"). I am usually VERY self-concious (sp) but decided I paid for the cruise, I was going. I am SO glad I did!! I did not feel out of place, met many people from these boards, went snorkeling, dancing and lounged by the pool. I truly believe that everyone is absorbed in the magic and weight does not fit in the quotation. I did however lose 8 pounds while cruising! I did not starve, decided I would only choose things from the menu that I would not make at home and did a lot of walking. Have a great time! I just booked my second cruise yesterday and can not wait!

Im also a little fluffy.
I went snokerling and had a great time. I was too busy enjoying myself to notice if anyone else was pointing at me and laughing.
I hate the way I look, but I wanted my DH to be happy....
Anyway, you should be fine,
Go and have fun.

I'm gonna give my two cents worth as one of those thin, athletic looking gals you're comparing yourself to. It's totally genetics in my case, I would never have the willpower to work out and watch every bite I eat. But, what I want you to know is this: I've always considered body size just "luck of the draw". Some people can eat whatever they want and stay thin, others can't seem to eat a thing without gaining weight. I pity anyone who would dare to judge someone because of they're body size. I would have missed out on some terrific friendships if I only socialized with "pretty" people. The Disney ship is filled with people of all sizes, the neatest thing is that we're all there because we LOVE Disney, so right off the bat we have something in common. Go fully prepared to meet some amazing and friendly people. Buy yourself a new swimsuit and have a blast!

I'm 5'8", and weigh 260 lbs. I've been to WDW water parks and DCL. I thought I would be more self conscious (I didn't even OWN a swimsuit before the first trip) but I was just having way too much fun. I didn't notice anyone even looking at me, because THEY were having too much fun too! I really hope you just relax and enjoy yourself - it's your trip and you deserve it!

I just had to add my 2 cents worth...

I am "Pooh" sized and I was always worried about what people would think when they saw me in my bathing suit. Until I realized that it was keeping me from doing the things I wanted to do. On our cruise no one was looking at me, they were busy doing their own thing. Just go and have fun!

As my overweight Uncle says "There are more of us, than there are of them!"

Consider buying some sarongs which you can wear around your swimsuit. It help me feels less self consious when walking around the ship or pool! ENJOY your cruise!!

I agree with an earlier post, everyone is so busy doing their own thing. You'll have a great time!!

I am very, very thin. I have always been thin even after 2 children (DS's 21 months & 5). I had a ruptured splenic aneurysm which is very rare while 36 weeks pregnant with my baby. In order to bring me back to life and save my life after I "coded" the surgeons sliced and diced me good. My whole abdomen and neck from drains, infusion of blood, spleen removal, distal pancrenectony, emergency thoracotomy to get to my heart etc. You can imgagine. My problem is finding a swim suit that covers my miles of scars. I am proud of the scars but don't want the constant reminder of seeing them or having others question them.

My point being we all come in all shapes and sizes and even though you look a size 4 that person may have a HUGE body conscious issue too.

On our Wonder cruise everyone looked fine, all sizes and shapes and all I noticed was they were having fun not how they looked body wise. I look for their facial expressions, a smile is worth a million dollars.

Just my thoughts :)

Have fun!;)

We are all special gifts to the ones we love.. and whether it be a bit of extra skin(or fat) or scars or stretch marks, whatever.. that is just the "wrapping paper" that makes us all special, and once you unwrap it you find such perfect gifts,, never judge a book by it's cover or the present by the wrapping :)
