Would you bring a double stroller for 2 kids (18 months and 5 years old) or 2 singles? :confused3 There will be three adults. Me, Dh and Dmil.

I'm leaning towards 2 singles, but the double has advantages too.

I appreciate any thoughts on the matter! :thumbsup2

I would not bring a double stroller because I think they are a pain for you (hard to manouver) and take up lots of side by side room. Also, there will be rides that only the 5 year old can ride and the little one can't, so to be able to walk around and get around people and lighter will just be nicer for the people that push it. Bring a bigger umbrella that has an undercarraige and extendable arms so that it doesn't make you hunch over all day.
Have fun!

If you have the room to take two strollers, I'd go for 2 singles as well. They are easier to manuever and push than doubles, both strollers don't always have to be brought (if, say, the 5 yr old only needs the stroller in the evening), and you can split up as needed.

Two singles. Unless you have a tandem seating one like a Phil & Ted (where one kid isn't going to get to see much in front of him/her), the doubles are too bulky and difficult to maneuver through the crowds.

I would just bring one single. I have 3 kids- ages 7, 5, and almost 3. We only take one stroller for the youngest. The first time we went to DL, my middle daughter was almost 4 and did fine for 2 days without a stroller. If your 5 year old gets really whiny, just let her ride for a few minutes and carry or let your younger one walk. We only had to do this once...a month ago my 5 year old got really nauseous during fireworks, so we had her sit in the stroller and carried our younger back to our shuttle stop.

We do 2 as well. Our DD was almost 5 on our last trip and she walked almost the entire time. BUT there were times when we had both daughters in strollers. We have a larger stroller and then a regular umbrella that we rig up in the back of the other one so that when we don't need it, we don't have to push it around either

wow Im surprised by the answers to this question. Now I only have one child so one single stroller is all we have ever needed and I have never used or researched double strollers but I would have though that one double stroller would be much better than two single ones. With one stroller you and your significant other can take turns pushing thus getting a break from pushing at times. Also its less stuff to bring and worry about.

But from what you guys are saying it sounds like double strollers arent very convenient.

The stroller I'm thinking about bringing is tandem. So it's not wide, but really long. But I think I'm sold on 2 strollers. A big stroller in DL is a pain and I'd much prefer to bring 2 singles. My oldest will walk most of the time (hopefully) but she complains her legs hurt after awhile so I know if I didn't bring a stroller for her we would have problems.

Hopefully we can keep the extra stroller parked a lot of the time so we don't always have to deal with it.

Thanks all!

Two can be more convenient when the kids have large age differences. If you're going to split up or not going to need the stroller for the older child all the time, and have enough people to push, then two can be more convenient than one. Depending on the stroller and weight of the kids (or sometimes the weight differences in the kids), doubles can be hard to push and manuever.

Are there going to be rides where two adults go on leaving just one adult and the kiddos?

If so I'd bring the double. We had that situation when we had two singles and I was left just sitting with the strollers because I wasn't able to haul two of them around to go browse or take them to another ride. Now my kids were much younger and only one of them could walk so it would be possible to just leave the extra stroller behind and come back for it.

My preference, if the double isn't a tank and is easy to maneuver, is to take a double over two singles.

I would only bring a stroller for the little one. At 5 neither of my kids used a stroller any longer.

If you feel both of your kids may need a stroller, I would suggest bringing two singles. We have a double at home for our two, but we are planning on buying some little umbrella strollers that we can easily fold up and carry if one is not needed.

It depends on when and where. In Disneyland with massive crowds, it can be a bit more difficult to maneuver a double stroller depending on the type of stroller.
