I know using two umbrella strollers is probably best for carting around my 5 and 3 year old BUT they do not have sun shades nor a tray for snacks nor a basket underneath SO can I bring my bigger double (front to back) stroller. Can I bring it on the plane and can I bring it to Disney (on the busses, etc.) What are the experts opinions?

Thanks, Wendy

Well I cant make an informed opinion either way since my very first trip is coming up but I have asked this same question a few days ago. Everyone has told me that yes you can take a larger stroller on the airlines (rules vary per airline) but the problem is that it is a real pain to get it on and off the Disney transportation.

Yes, you can bring the larger stroller. There are tons of them.

At the airport, you'll leave it at the door just before boarding, then pick it up at the door when you arrive. I think you'll find it much easier to keep track of your little ones in the airport by keeping them in their stroller. The only drawback is you have to fold it and put it through the scanner with your carry on bags.

You can take them on Disney transportation as well. It will need to be folded most of the time. The exceptions are the monorail, and large boats (like the one from WL to MK). (There may be others, but that is all I know.)

Thanks for the quick replies. It sounds like I'll call the airline just to be sure I can bring it and then just fold it and unfold it a kazillion times in Disney.

I had a very good suggestion given to me. Take a bike lock. Get one with keys not a combination so you can lock and unlock it quickly. This will prevent someone from stealing it. *gasp* The thought of theives in public places huh? I am going to get one so I dont have to worry about the stroller while we are on a ride. Just one note... the CM's will sometimes move strollers around to make the area more cleared and presentable. Dont lock it up in an area that may cause them a problem.

Indeed, on the buses they will need to be folded. Almost one half of our active fleet right now is low-floor buses, with wide entry doors and wide aisles, but be prepared for the standard floor bus which has a not-as-wide entry door, and narrow aisles.

Chip n Dale Express - You are just the person I need to talk to. We bought a fairly large - okay, it's huge - double jogging stroller a couple of weeks ago. We didn't realize just how big it would be until it arrived and we had it built. It folds down but is BY NO MEANS compact whatsoever. :guilty:

When open, it is about the size or even larger than an adult size wheelchair. Have you seen these on your buses and how hard are they to load and unload. My DH really wants to take this stroller and has offered to be in charge of all the loading and unloading himself (if it doesn't take two of us for this thing) but I don't want to get stuck on the bus with a stroller that doesn't fit down the aisles. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!! :earboy2: :flower1: :earboy2:

I know the exact stroller you are talking about. My advice would be the following:

For the LOW FLOOR buses, you should be fine. The front door is wide, and the seating is perimeter style, so you'll be all set. Board as normal.

For the standard floor buses with the steps, wait in line like normal. When you get to the door, ask the driver if DH can take the folded stroller through the back door. Everyone else board through the front, and DH only can take the already folded stroller through the wide back door.

As a general tip for all those with strollers, it's always a good idea to take the time while you are waiting to organize all the junk in the bottom pockets and whatnot, and get the stroller ready to be folded. Nothings worse than getting to the front, and holding everyone up while junk falls out and you attempt to figure out how to fold it.

Thank you so much for your help. I have seen some of your other posts and they are always quite helpful - as is always our experience with Disney CMs. I can rest more assured knowing that it will work - even if it takes a little bit of planning in advance. Thanks again!!!!

Any other advice for Pop Century family goers????? :wizard: :wizard:

You are not allowed to lock strollers to anything at Disney. You can use a bike type lock and lock the wheeles together, but you cannot lock it to anything on Disney property. CM's must be allowed to move them for safety reasons.

I think that's what GoofdDad was suggesting in the first place. He mentioned the fact that CM's would need to move the stroller. At least I took it to mean this.

if you're still on the phone could you please ask them if there is a limit to size of jogging stroller (double) they accept at the parks??? :-)

Okay. They informed me that you may not be allowed in the park with the bike lock. It is viewed as a potential weapon. Hmmm. okay.

They also said that you could not lock the stroller up for the very reason Kimberle gave. Safety. It does make sense and I wasnt trying to second guess anyone by calling them. I just wanted to be 100% about this before I tok my stroller. Now I am not going to. I'll rent one. That's a shame too because it will cost me $105.00 to rent them while im there. ($15 a day for 7 days). :guilty:

The size of the stroller doesnt matter. Heck, their double stroller is bigger (wider) than anything you may bring I bet.

You can lock a stroller with a long-hasp padlock, the trick is to lock a fold joint instead of trying to immobilize the wheels. No one is going to steal a stroller that they will need a hacksaw to fold.

sometimes a person hears or sees something that just makes their brain stop and say "uhhhh".

I can't believe I didn't think of that. Good call. Security at WDW when I called said that the lock would be considered a weapon and therefore not allowed but the lock I asked them about was a cable lock. Im sure the oversized clasp should be fine. Thanks

I could be mistaken, but I think they might offer discounts if you pre-pay for the stroller rental. I've seen guests with little coupon books that they bought from stroller rental, and they've had reduced rates in there.
