it was close to 90... only had 2 subs and they were absolutely neccesary because it's pollen season so I had to use them to get the girls out with asthma...hit the inhalors and back in!!
We scored once early.. then rode it out for the rest of the game..But 1-0 is one in the W column!

Excellent Alex..way to go Allison and team mates!

it's only 74 here Alex!!! LOL

Congrats to the team! It is pretty hot today, isn't it? My DD just finished up her Cystic Fibrosis walk, I have to go out shortly to buy food, and my DS has a soccer game in Watertown tomorrow. Glad I can relax this weekend!;)

Congrats on the win.
Those days were fun for us. They just so loved to play win or lose. I was so glad when I could be the "fairweather" soccer mom. When DS was in HS he said I should stay home when weather was bad. Now in their 20s they still play whenever they can get together and most of em are from tot soccer up. What a lifelong sport.

Woohoo! Those girls rock....and their coach too, of course. :cool1:

Don't you love those Saturday games? I do. It rained during ours today, and it was still fun. The parents chatted, the kids had fun getting a bit muddy. My husband coaches, too. We also have the allergy problems most days, but today the rain helped.

all of our games are saturday mornings.. except make up games...
the good part of soccer season being over is I get my saturday's back.. these away games take up half the day!

Sounds like fun, Alex! Congrats on the win! :cheer2:

My daughter had a soccer game this morning too. It was 45 degrees and she played on a muddy field because it has rained every day this week. Thought about having her not play, but it was the last game of the season. The weather seemed to bother me more than it did her.

Soccer is an all weather sport..but it drives the mother's NUTS sometimes....

We got our boys their cleats today:)...soccer season doesn't start here until mid-June.

Congrats on the Game!!:D :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Happy to hear you guys pulled it out this morning. :)

But I'm so sad because my child's soccer season is now over, and I'll miss his games. They are so exciting! (Especially compared to Peewee baseball games.)

My honey busted his arm and is in a cast for the next 5 or 6 weeks--the duration of the season, of course!

And would you believe he argued with me about not playing soccer?!?!

"But Mmmoooommm, I don't use my arm THAT much in soccer. It's more a LEG game. Why can't I just play?"

No way, Jose!

unless it's a weird league they won't let him play with a cast anyway...
Our league is very strict... every game I have to take ear rings out of one or two of the girls...

a special moment :)

Gonna bronze 'em...
;) ;)

Any soccer etiquette I should know?
...like is it ok to take a cow bell and ring it madly?:) (Or is that strictly a Canadian Hockey Mom thing? My mom did that to my brothers;))
...should I bring juice boxes for everyone? They're six years old...I have a feeling there will be a need for juice...although they already told dad that "When we play soccer, Daddy, we have to have Kool-Aid Jammers Sport"...I can see the endorsement contract now...
...Can you tell we're excited?!!

:sunny:

Alex, trust me, the League doesn't have to tell me he can't play with a cast on. Over my dead body will I allow that!

He, on the other hand, is having a tough time accepting that all his athletic activities have to be curtailed until the cast comes off. I caught him trying to ride his friend's scooter yesterday. And he tried to sneak his bike out this morning. ("I wasn't really going to ride it, Mom. I just wanted to look at it." Yeah, I believe that!)

uhh the cow bell thing would be a really bad idea :)
Let's see.........understand the Referee WILL make mistakes... it's actually part of soccer and it kind of goes against the american mentality. A lot of leauges have a zero tolerance policy and yelling at the ref will get you booted from the field...very embarresing.....
It's cool to yell GO and YEA and scream when they score but don't coach from the other side line. It's very confusing for the kids.
One thing that really confuses people is that in soccer, unlike baseball or football it's not a goal or out of bounds untill the ENTIRE ball is over the ENTIRE line....
In soccer the ref has an option called "play on". Even if there is an OBVIOUS penalty if there is no advantage gained the referee can just shrug it off and decide it isn't a penalty.. that one drives people wild some times
Theirs an off side rule that barely anybody understands but you won't have to worry about that for a while.... it doesn't fully kick in untill U-12 in most places
Normally what we did is have one parent bring some snacks and drinks.. orange slices or something on a rotating basis.
Now.. at the older ages the kids bring their own pretty much.
Always make sure they have a water bottle!
This may be my personal biggest pet peeve with parents. If your child is not going to be at practice or a game CALL!!!!!!! There is nothing more maddening to a coach then to get to a game and not know who is going to show up.
If I can spend 2 hours at a practice and blow every saturday morning for games I will never understand why a parent can't pick up the phone.
