it seems that we are to be subjected to another take on the over the hill, substance abusing star nurturing a young starlet with a role reversal by the end of the pic. the first one had Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. the second and most popular starred Judy Garland and James Mason. the last one from 1976 starred Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson and if there ever was a couple with no chemistry.......................the new one is going to star.........wait for it..............Beyonce and they are trying to sign Russell Crowe....can you say The Bodyguard???? so anyway a bit of a trivia quiz for you........who was the first choice for the Kristofferson role in 1976 and turned it down flat???????????????????????

The Judy/Frederic version was considered a flop and the Babs/Kris was considered a hit. And will we always assume that a AA woman and a caucasian male in a movie is in reference to the Bodyguard? The plots of both films are VERY dissimilar.

i should have known someone would bring that up. for your information i was paraphrasing the LA Times with that statement. blame them. you look for trouble where there is none....i do not care one way or the other what color they are.

"If it comes off, a Crowe-Beyonce pairing would serve as one of the most prominent onscreen interracial romances since 1992’s “The Bodyguard,” which teamed Kevin Costner with the female singing sensation of the day, Whitney Houston." that is a direct quote from the article.........so let me alone..........i get so tired of people trying to find racism where there is none.

Yet you mentioned NOTHING in OP about the LA times. Would you like a coconut? :lovestruc

Judy and Frederick weren't in the same movie... I think you meant garland/march.... it really confused me for a minute... LOL

why should it matter if they say it or i say it..................................?????????????????????????????????........................and i will pass on the coconut.............i here they can get lost in some pretty tight spaces.

Mayhaps you should post your sources.
again.............a statement is a statement............if you dont like the statement when i say it why would you all of a sudden think it is ok if someone else says it..........you were trying to start trouble and now you are trying to get out of it. shoo fly.

I would have taken the LA Times to task knowing that they had made the statement, your post came across as if YOU had made it. Not starting trouble, but your OP was poorly written.

now you are an editor also............. let me know what they have to say after you call them...........................i said shoo fly.

Actually, I AM an editor. I will shoo when I feel like it. You don't own the thread dear.

If you were quoting the Times in your OP, why didn't you mention it? Were you hoping to pass off their comments as your own?

I wish they would quit making remakes of classic movies. Today stars just can't pull it off.:sad2:

Don't blame Topper because you didn't quote a source. That's exactly why you were given grief over it. When you didn't list the source, the comments will always appear to be your own views.

Live and learn. If you don't agree with the views of an article, be sure to list it as such.
