Another reason why I love my DVC

I have 4 nights booked at AKV - Jambo for our Thanksgiving trip but we want to stay for 7. I thought I would maybe look at staying at one of the other WDW resorts for a few nights. The Poly is one of my favorite resorts so I thought I could justify staying there for 3 nights. Well, that was until I just priced it out and they were looking to charge me $500+ a night just for a garden view room Are they kidding me??? $500 a night for a room??? Sure the Poly is great but that is outrageous (at least in my opinion!) I am so thankful that I can look to DVC to fill in my extra nights!!!

I'm still in somewhat of a state of shock. I guess I haven't looked that closely at the trend in room rates at WDW lately to really know how crazy they have become!

Agreed. Even when you look at some of the base prices for the mods, they are high for what you get. SOO glad we get to stay at deluxes for the price of our dues every year. (Oh yea, and the buy in cost we paid thankfully over 5 years ago. Don't think we would be buying in direct today at current prices).

Ahhh.... But that is because you are already DVC members! You would not believe what we have been paying cash wise to stay at BLT and GF during peak time the last year or two. Even buying direct we will eventually come out ahead.

AGREE! If we'd been willing to stay at mods we probably wouldn't have purchased but we're no longer willing to spend so much time on a bus when I can trip out my door and walk to a park

My sentiments exactly. I finally saw the light when I rented points in 2007. After many visits at Christmas time and paying big money for hotel rooms, DVC is to good to be true, especially with grandchildren and the need for two rooms now instead of one.

Last year did a cash stay at HHI though DVC and got it off season for 89 dollars a night. That just Rocks. Were can you stay for 89 a night. I love my DVC.

After seeing what others are paying for their Disney trips--$5000-$8000 average I am so glad I bought DVC too.

My family recently relocated to FL, just 1.5 hours away and I have some pretty awesome trips planned. We are going in March for a week BLT/BVC (F&G), Going in Oct 3nights for F&W at the BW, and will go for another long weekend in Dec. and might do a cruise in Jan 2014.

I rented points to my Nephew, he gets to stay at AKV SV for $1600 less then Disney rates and I get more than half my MF covered for this year.

Plus being Fl residents I can take advantage on the new Discovery ticket -4 days for $128, so the whole week at Disney in March is $980 for 4,(tickets and lodging) not including food, but since we have a car and a 1 bedrm it shouldn't be more than $500 for the week and I spend $225 anyways for food a week.

We saw the light this past December after just becoming new members. I did the math... between our 4-night (Dec) AKV trip, our upcoming 2-night (Jun) HHI trip, and 6-night (Nov) OKW trip, we're talking roughly $5000 for just the rooms if we'd paid cash. We purchased our resale contract last year for not too much more than that!

Granted, the trips outlined above are almost two UY's worth of points. But still... our contract will have paid for itself very soon.

My sentiments exactly. Even IF the math over the years could be argued....prepaying always seems cheaper. At my buy in price over the life of the contract over the total points I get in that contract, my per point cost was about $2.05 a point. Add that to the dues per point, and I'm still paying under $7 a point. So a 5 night stay at BLT was 229 points for a 2 bedroom. That's about $320 a night for a 2 bedroom. And someone else pays $500 for a regular room at Poly????? No thanks. And the 2 bedroom was a rarity for us, we had the grandparents with us. 1 br and studio's is our norm depending on length of stay.

Yes, We totally agree too.. Thank goodness for our DVC... There is no way we could do the trips without it...
