Another reason to love DVC

I'm pretty much a new owner at BCV as of Dec. 2003. I was just over on the resort board and budget board and everyone is buzzing about the new AP rates that just came out....holding with CRO at 7:00 AM to change ressies, etc. I used to do the same before DVC. I guess that's one more reason for me to love DVC...not having to worry about when rate codes will be released or even "if" they are going to be released.

DVC...it's a wonderful thing.

LOL! I was reading some of the posts the other day and wondering whether it's really worth going through the contortions some people do to plan their vacations. I could see maybe doing it once if you are on a budget for a "once in a lifetime" trip but to spend so much time over and over starts to seem a little crazy (or at least like a hobby). You're right -- no need to worry any more.

I also wonder how deep those discounts are going to be in the near future. I've been reading articles where hotels, in general, are getting back to normal and are no longer willing to waive "resort fees", etc.

You've mentioned my favorite DVC "perk" - no more worrying about getting a discount, no large blocks of time to set aside for waiting on hold and no more worrying that CRO/WDWTC will "mess up" my reservation. I am one that believes it is not good to make frequent changes to a reservation - it just increases the opportunity for human error!

Anyway, I do read the resort boards every so often just so I can remember how easy DVC reservations are compared to the "not so good old days" of pre-DVC.

I agree with Pam - the days of deep discounts are gone (or soon will be). Today's WSJ has an article about summer travel and the expected airport delays. Said that this summer travel season will be just as bad (if not worse) than the delayed-plagued summer of 2000! Orlando was mentioned as one of the "trouble spots." Plan extra time to get through security.
