Another question....

Hi.

As some many know from my other post i have not long split from my partner and am looking after my son fulltime. Now she is no longer in the picture i thought it would be nice to take my son to disney again. this time though i have to do it on a budjet.

My question relates to money, as in what is it better to do. Change money into euros up before you go. Take my debit card (Alliance+leicester) and pay for stuff direct on that or use it to draw from an atm as and when i need it.

The reason i ask this is, if i say change £250 up into euros and only use £200 will the money i lose changing it back leave me worse off then just using my card there..?

last year i changed my money with First choice travel agents who for a very small fee (like £2.50) buy back your euros for the same rate you exchanged them. I was very happy with this and it worked well for me.

I think quite a few currency exchange places do this now - I can't remember who I changed my money with, but they guaranteed to buy back any left over euro notes at the same rate I bought them, as long as it was within a certain period of time (can't remember if it was 14 or 21 days).

There are also a few credit cards (Post Office, Nationwide, and others) that dont charge a fee for spending in euros, and they usually give you a better exchange rate than you can buy euros at, so we have one of those, charge everything we can to the room (meals, souvenirs etc.) and pay the room bill by credit card at the end of the stay. We usually only take a small amount of euros for cash purchases. If you drive you can pay motorway tolls by card too. If you use your debit card to withdraw cash you will get charged a fee, also not sure if you can use any/all debit cards for purchases in France - sure someone else will know.

Last time I went on moneysupermarket.com and ended up using a website called the Internet currency exchange (ICE)

Got a higher rate than anywhere in the high street and was posted recorded next day delivery.
