Hi Again!

Sorry to bother my UK Dis friends - my daughter has a question which Company/SIM Card is best for her US unlocked Apple 5s phone. Some more info on her: She lives in Zone 1, plans to travel on weekends around Europe, Heavy texting ;) and loves music ;) so she will definitely need a large data package!, Will be calling home in US and friends in UK and Europe although will use Viber, and loves apps! - Also she will be overseas until May! Between the various phone companies - is one considered better eg. - more reliable/coverage and or better for traveling - Also, does she have to change sim cards when traveling, or can keep the same card, etc..? Finally is there a recommended store she should go to or a particular company outlet?

Thanks in advance for your help! :thumbsup2

I recommend 3. I've been with them for 5 or 6 years and am very happy with them.

They have a scheme called Feel At Home, which allows you to use your normal plan in a few countries: details on their site: search for Feel At Home!

Also, I've shopped around recently and they are definitely the cheapest, and you can get reasonable plans with plenty of texts and unlimited data usage.

They have a few one month rolling contracts, that wouldn't tie her down longer than she's over here: these two might be options:

http://store.three.co.uk/view/searchSimOnly?tariff=2915
http://store.three.co.uk/view/searchSimOnly?tariff=2281

Neither of those prices are bad for what they are offering... For example, O2 don't offer an unlimited data plan on a monthly plan sim- 2GB a month with unlimited texts and calls is £36 (ouch!)

Thank you for this info! Sorry, I've never heard of '3' - however, just went on the website and it appears there is a store about a 1/2 mile away.

Do you know if these options come with a phone number attached to the SIM Card, or does she get to keep her number and/or there is a special number that we have to call to reach her?

Any other companies or recommendations for her to check out?

Thanks again!

The card will have a number registered to it.
Those great people from 3 have just allowed us UK customers to use our monthly contract allocation of minutes and data, when in USA. We can now call back home and also surf the internet without worrying about the costs (providing that you do not exceed your monthly allowance)

If she goes to a shop such as Carphone warehouse they sell all mobile phone companies so can compare rates for her to see which comes out best.
