Another question from a new dvc'er....requests

Staying at home resort (ssr) and wanted to know if I can make requests. We are staying in a two bedroom and want to be close to either the main pool or pleasure island. We are carrying our family (me, wife, 6 yr old girl, 4 year old boy) and two cousins who are going for their senior trip. The pool would be for the little kids, the pleasure island for the grads. How do I request in DVC? What are some recommendations of what to request from some veterans?

Call MS and ask the CM to add your requests to the reservation. Keep them as general as possible and have them listed in priority order. The requests you listed are just fine (close to pool or PI). Most people list their smoking/non-smoking prference first.

Can't help with specifics for SSR (haven't seen it yet), but this will bump your post to the top and maybe someone who has already stayed there will see it.

Request a room in Congress Park with a Downtown Disney View. That should put you within a minute or two of the Quiet Pool, 5-7 minutes (walking) from the main pool and very close to the Downtown Disney walking path.

Note, though, that since Pleasure Island is in the middle of DD, it will probably take at least 20 minutes to walk there no matter where your room is in Congress Park. There are two separate paths that lead to the Marketplace (on one end) and West Side (on the other end). Regardless of which walking path you take, you'll still have to pass through the Marketplace or West Side to reach PI.

The path between SSR and the Marketplace seems to be better labeled and lit during the nighttime hours.

Of course, the reality is that you can make any request you want but there is no guarantee that DVC will be able to accomodate you 100%. For the most part, they do try though and I'm sure they'll be able to find something acceptable to you. Keep your fingers crossed and have fun planning the rest of your trip...
