We visited BW in may,not as a guest. When out on the boardwalk we were amazed at the "mess" those black birds were leaving everywhere, including the balconies. Has anyone who's stayed during this time every wished they had a beebee gun. We will be staying there this year, hope we're not disappointed.

stayed ina one bdrm "quiet pool" view and it was wonderful, birds didn't bother us at all. the bugs that were "mating"....another story.

Those birds can be really aggressive!!! We stayed in a 5th floor studio with a Boardwalk view (right under the "O" in Crest O the Wave) and we were never able to take any kind of food out on the balcony. Those birds just flew right at you to grab it. Frankly, they were rather scarey!! I've decided I prefer the ducks at OKW--they are less threatening!!

In Feb., I was walking along the boardwalk with a cookie that my DH had just purchased from the bakery. This seagull swooped down, hit me on the head, and grabbed the cookie. I was so mad--not at the bird, but at the people who feed the birds, disregarding all the signage NOT to feed them. I would hate to see this happen to a little kid or someone who is freaked out by birds. The gulls are getting very aggressive and think the food is for them.

But, as to your question, I had no problem with birds on my balcony. Have fun!

I was sitting with my DH and DS at Aunt Polly's having lunch. My husband and son got up to get something and I was immediately attacked by a large seagull, trying to get our food He'd been sitting on the rail watching us for some time. I hit at the bird and made contact and that bird stayed on the table. I hit him harder and he took off. I can't imagine what he would have done had my son been sitting there.

A little while later I saw a teenager feeding one and complaining about how he was nipping at her hand. Dumb kid.

Seems like we comment on the birds every time we go over to BWV.

But can't you imagine that Disney is in a "pickle" with this one? How could they eliminate these birds without the PETA people watching? :)

We often joke about the pellet gun, also.
Hmmm.... A new Disney attraction, maybe? Target practice?!?

I hate to say this, but the bird situation at BWV is just like an other resort area on the water(at least in the North East). When we go to the delaware or Jersey shore the saying "keep you eyes on your fries" is very much true.
Even at thr McDonalds in town (I live on the coast by Long Sound) the Seagulls will sit on your hood and stare at you thru the windshield, calculating how to get to those fries or anything else you are eating.
To me, I kind of like the birds at BWV though I never feed them. It reminds me of "home" Though the pellet gun theory would be kinda cool (just kidding)
