Another question about being on 2 reservations at the same time

For my next solo trip, I can't decide which days to do a split stay. Do I want to do a couple days at the beginning or the end of my "main stay" resort. I currently have my main resort reserved for the entire period of my stay. I wonder whether it would be possible to reserve the other resort at both the beginning and end, without losing the main resort stay, then give myself a couple more weeks to decide for sure which to do. Could I put my DH as head on the reservation at the other hotel, then cancel in a few weeks? If that sounds confusing, imagine being in my head! I'm so confused, but I promise to decide. Just wondering if making DH the guest on the reservation at the smaller part of the split would work, then change it to me (since he won't be there).
Any words of wisdom would help.

I have held 2 reservations at once several times for the very same reasons you mention. Are these DVC? If there’s an issue with them being cash, you could do one as a room only I would imagine.

You can hold reservations for the same days at different resorts.

I do this all the time until I know for sure what I need. The issue only comes into play when you are actually going as you can’t be registered as a guest on two different reservations at the same time.
