Quick question:

Looking at renting a car to get from Orlando to the port, and then after the cruise to get from the port back to Orlando (by way of Kennedy space Center)

Do any of the rental car agencies in Port Canaveral have a program where (assuming you're a member of their rewards program) you have a more exclusive line, or better yet the keys are waiting when you walk through the door? I can only imagine getting off of the ship and waiting in line with hundreds of other families to get a car. I'm looking for options for how to make this as quick and seamless as possible for my family.

Thanks in advance!

I don't belong to any rental program, and the pricing from the companies who offer it (for my dates) were much more expensive, so I walked off the ship with my luggage, took a cab to the car rental office, sat at Dunkin Donuts with a cup of coffee (while the rest of the family got ready, ate, found their luggage, etc.) and caught up on my email, picked up the rest of the family from the ship, and headed towards Orlando.

I'm not naturally an early riser... But couldn't stand the idea of the crowds at the counter like you mentioned.

Not that I'm aware of at PC; however, at the airport, with Budget, I walk right to my car.

You won't have hundreds of other families in line at any one rental agency. Most people don't rent cars after the cruise. We waited a long time at Thrifty one time, but otherwise, our waits have been minimal. The past 2 times we rented from National after the cruise and there was no line.

Just get there early!

Dropped off a car Sunday a week ago at Alamo($31/34 each way for midsize one day rental) around 10am and there must have been 40 family's waiting for cars.

Picked up yesterday after cruise about 8:30am and no line and about 100 cars to pick from. lol

To be honest I was worried until we pull up and seen all the cars waiting and went inside and the place was empty and 3 employees said can I help you! lol

Yes. Hertz Gold. You don't have to have rented with them before and it's free.
We bypassed a line both ways

National rental at the airport does as well. I'm an executive elite and allow me to choose at the airport. At PC. Usually get a free upgrade. Of course your match may vary.
