Another one joins the club - Jetblue baggage fees now

JB cutting leg room and going to charge baggage fees.

I know quite a few people will be disappointed with this. I have found Jetblues prices to be more expensive than Southwest out of Buffalo 90% of the time lately. I don't find their service that much better to justify it. Take away legroom and start charging for bags and all they have over any other airline is a tv IMO and that just isn't worth it to me.

Not happy to hear this.

But......I can't see us switching airlines because of it.

We much prefer flying from Syracuse versus Toronto (too busy) or Buffalo (too far....crossing Toronto can be nightmarish!), and JB is the only airline to fly nonstop to Orlando from SYR. We love the TV's. We love being able to select our seats in advance. We love having the ability to upgrade to Even More Space/Even More Speed.

We will, however, travel lighter as a result. With a well organized carry-on each, DH and I could easily share one checked bag when we have laundry facilities in our offsite villa.

Have always liked jetBlue and have flown them direct SYR-MCO quite a few times. But to make our drive from Pembroke to Syracuse worth the while, we counted on workable departure times, low fares, free checked bags, free advance seat selection, in-flight amenities...all the things that made flying jetBlue a pleasant and affordable experience for a large family.

First thing to go was the decent departure times from SYR...two non-stop flights per day dropped to one and morning departures changed to evening departures.

Second thing to go was cheap fares...their prices have been creeping up steadily over the last few years.

Now we will be paying for checked baggage and soon probably also for advance seat selection.

They may still be a decent airline when the dust settles, but my loyalty is waning.

The five hour drive to Syracuse used to be worth it. Thought jetBlue was a great airline. Now they are getting to be just like all the rest.

Flying out of Ottawa for our trip this coming February. Booked on Westjet before they implemented their new checked baggage fee...one last time to fly without paying for checking our bags.

We have a morning departure for our nonstop flight from SYR to MCO in May. It is the only nonstop of the day, but it leaves at 7 am.
