Another OKW review

We're just wrapping up our 4-night stay at OKW and I gave to say the bus service has been excellent! We're in building 32, near the Turtle Pond stop. A few observations:

A few observations:

-- I checked in online a few days before arrival and requested near the golf course and transportation. Both requests were met perfectly!

-- unfortunately, our room was a little banged up. We has several wet spots in the floor, partially because someone turned off the mini-fridge (we're in a studio) with ice cubes in the freezer.

-- we lost hot water in our third day, but a call to maintenance had it fixed quickly

-- on our trash and towel day we had just one of our trash bins emptied and no soap/shampoo replenishment

-- Olivias was very good -- the banana rum French toast was amazing!

If anyone has any questions, I'm happy to try and answer them.

We always stay in the 2br's, in fact I've had maybe 3 stays total in the OKW studios since 2000 and they do appear get the most wear and tear. (they are offered as upgrades during the Disney Promos) I've never seen in a 2br the abuse described often in these threads. Personally, if booking a studio I wouldn't stay at OKW, they are often dark, by the A/C units with the windows buried amidst the foliage. But for a 1br or 2br OKW is by far my favorite resort.

We were recently in a OKW two-bedroom and the only real issue was that both blow dryers in the bathrooms were non-functional. They brought two new ones the next day (they would have done so immediately, but I said it was not an "emergent" issue). Everything else in the unit was fine.

We have not often run into problems at OKW. We did once check into a brand- new studio at SSR in the newly opened Paddock section after dark and we had NO lights. I figured it was a circuit breaker issue - which it was - and maintenance was there pretty quickly to take care of it. We just laughed it off and ate our late dinner in the dark!

We will be down there in a few weeks and i was wondering if there were still outside BBQ grills by the turtle pond pool. I was hoping to bring down some Filets to grill when some friends come to visit us.

Yes, still there by the quiet pool. We used them in June!

Yes, there are four charcoal grills with four picnic tables to the right of the snack bar. It looked like a great place to have a nice little cookout.

Booked a studio for Princess 1/2 Marathon week-end. Was thrilled to get something given that it was only 5 months out. Anyway, looking for recommendations on room location. Never stayed here before and very unfamiliar with the resort. We'll have a car so not too concerned with bus transportation location. What do the OKW veterans recommend?

Stayed in a 2nd Floor studio with DS2 last January in Peninsula Road. No issues with the room which was recently updated. Balcony had lots of foliage cover though. Totally unrelated, does anyone know why we had a refrigerator with an ice maker in the door in a 2 BR unit which we stayed at in May, yet no door ice maker in the 1 BR unit we had in July? Both units were in Peninsula Road and updated.
