Hi everyone!

I have been lurking for some time now and decided to pop on in.

I live in Chicago but was a former cast member for a few years when living in Orlando. I moved to Ft. Lauderdale for a few years after that and now back in the Midwest.

I'm going to WDW for the first time in about 3 years and haven't had any idea what's going on there. Any "must-see" things or attractions you may suggest? :)

Welcome! I grew up in Chicagoland - what part are you in? I'm also a former cast member - CP and Disney Store.

If you like coasters, you have to do Expedition Everest - no loops - but total darkness on part of it - very cool! The best thrill factor !! :woohoo: Although there doesn't seem to be anything like the launch on The Rockin' Rollercoaster. :scared1:

The haunted mansion has had an update inside...some new stuff in there - very cool also.

Soarin' is great too - if you don't have motion sickness....big movie screen, feels like hang gliding kinda.

Lots more - I can go on and on, but I think I'll let some of the others get a word in with their faves. :rolleyes1

Welcome!

One of the best parts of Soarin' is that even if you do have motion sickness it is easily dealt with. Because the ride itself is incredibly smooth, the motion sickness Soarin' induces is entirely visual. So, if you close your eyes for a bit it will subside.

Great!

I live in Ravenswood - just north and west of Lakeview.

I am really looking forward to Expedition Everest! I've heard great things...

We are going with a couple of first-timers so the Haunted Mansion is a must.

I do get incredibly motion sick on rides like Star Wars, Body Wars, etc. so closing my eyes on Soarin' will be no problem if I start feeling the queasies.

Thanks for the tips!

Hi Klubby! Welcome!

All the rides mentioned are great!
I didn't fair well on RR Coaster or sadly, Everest..for some reason I came off that one reeling:scared1: . While I haven't done Soarin at WDW, I have done it in DL and I was fine on that...go figure!

For me, I have to say that the highlight attraction of my last WDW trip was Monster's Inc Laughing Floor Comedy Club. I thought it was great fun. We also had quite a lot of fun "chasing" the special PhotoPass opportunities, like Stitch popping out of the street at DHS, the Hook sword fight, the ghost on the horseless hearse, and others. Those photos are priceless!

Have fun planning your trip. Maggie

Me! :snooty:

Just kidding, but I'm a big fan of both The Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Musical at Animal Kingdom. I won't lie, I'm also a fan of the ride in The Seas With Nemo and Friends at Epcot. I don't care if it's a "kids" ride :upsidedow

I also get motion sick on Star Tours and Body Wars, but have never had a problem on Soarin'. It's one of my all time favorite attractions.

Oh, and Welcome Aboard!

Rob

It will be cool to see Festival again being a former cast member. I had not heard about the Nemo show there so that will be cool too! :)

I love Soarin'! Everest is also one of my favorite rides and the Nemo show at AK is not to be missed. I LOVE Tower of Terror, but of course that's been there for awhile. Haunted Mansion was fun with the changes and we went on it several times.

Have a great time! I really want to move to Orlando and am trying to make it happen.

Everest is also one of my favorite rides

If you are prone to motion sickness, watch out for this one!

I think the theming was great, and, I'd love to try it again for that reason.

But, it took me out of commission for about 3 hours.

If I do it again, I will do so at the end of the day, I will make sure that I have BOTH dramamine and dramamineII fully in my system and that I have pure ginger oil on my wrists & temples. (I also have to convince my DW that it is worth the risk to let me on it again.)

It made me ill too! And I was so excited about it. You are a brave soul for wanting to try it again!

I'm fine on Everest as long as I breathe. :rotfl: The first several times I went on it I felt faint--like I was going to black out. Finally figured out that when going backwards I would hold my breath. Now I'm good. I usually sit in the front and that may help the motion sickness since a person can see where they are going. Don't suppose that hold true when it goes backwards, though. :teeth:
