Another name ruined! - What great names did you lose? UPDATE 1ST POST

That's a warped book quote......in Elizabeth Peters' books about Amelia Peabody she is always complaining about her husband Emerson. He always managed to get "another shirt ruined" in all 13-15 books.

Well, VMK's AmeliaPeabody has been around for quite sometime and today was told she had to change her name!

Some of us have fits over waiting in lines, or events, or inventory - my whole VMK thing is about making up the names.

I am desolate....... her rooms were themed to the characters occupation of archeologist. I am afraid to look at her companions...

I also lost MethaneGuy a few weeks ago.

So who have you lost?

Believe it or not they approved SittHakimEmerson ( the title the locals call Amelia Peabody in the books ) - I am very pleased! Also am semi-relieved to learn that FlyingDuck had to change. I didn't create the name to match the famous saying so it made me slightly uncomfortable that someone might think I did. However, my next choice of CrispyDuck was rejected. ???? It's not a food thing because there is ShreddedDuck and DuckSoup....hhhmmmm

For some reason I lost Eeyyoorre, but was able to eventually replace it with WhyNotEeyore?

Although it's not your real name. It does sound like one, most likely that is why it was removed, which I think we can all understand. Not many others would know it was a reference to the works of Elizabeth Peters.

I am sad however that you lost the MethaneGuy name was just to funny for words! Kids are known for enjoying potty humor, and MethaneGuy is was not vular or offensive, just funny. To bad they made you change it. It just shows someone is lacking a funny bone.

I have lost a name also, my original name on my main character was MKOATEYW to match my Dis name and they made me change it a while back. So I am now eywprincess. I still can't figure out what part of that they didn't like unless it was that is matched my Dis name.

My sister had to change one of hers as well - also ending in Peabody......
I wonder if it is the body or pea part. I did drop a polite little note into the black hole just to ask why.

MethaneGuy was a gas! and his room was called FuelStop. I think sometimes VMK is a little slow in catching on to "inside" jokes. He is WebbedDuck now.
Funny though that FlyingDuck is still around.....

I think because it is a coyright name. While many people wouldn't know it, the Disney folks have to respect other people's copyrights or no one would respect their.

Oh no, I love the Amelia Peabody character in the books! But I think Cat is right about the copyright thing.

Actually, I'm not so sure about the copyright thing. First, there would have to be someone on staff who could read....I'm not sure if that applies to most since they can't seem to read our notes to the "black hole". Sorry - that was supposed to be funny, but may have come out more sarcastic.

Besides, there were a number of other character names from those books used and they're still alright. I'm not going to mention them in case TPTB read the thread...let the fun last a little longer.

I was wondering about the body functions more than anything. My character that got changed was NephretPeabody and seriously, who has the name "Nephret"?? Besides, how many real life names do you see around VMK on any given day in one form or another. Lately I've seen more and more!

I'd lean more towards sounding like a real name before I'd go for the copyright thing. While the books are very popular among mystery readers, not many other people even heard of them.

But then again NephretPeabody has to change too?? How odd.

Actually it could be considered as promoting the author.....whim I do recommend.

I'll let you know if the black hole coughs something up!

Sorry to hear about your title change. I had to change my name too. It was approved since Beta. My name used to be MrsPotts. My favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast. Belle was taken at the time so I went with the other name. Then I had to change a while ago. I understand they might have thought that was my real name. But now I'm happy with my name now . So it kinda work out for me. But it seems VMK are getting picky with there names selections now. It's kinda hard coming up with something now.

My DD, MickeysMusic used to be FunkyMonkey-Bobby, but VMK made her change it. She's still known as Monkey to many .

Well, they didn't take away hrhkit...but they did take "kit" out of the dictionary just a few days ago. It is such a bummer. Everyone called me Kit in the game. I guess I am "Cat" in the game now.
