Another Military Show

I am active duty military, I think it would be an interesting show to talk about the challenges many military families have in planning a Disney vacation. People with normal jobs can plan out vacation months and sometimes even a year in advance. I know with my job I am not able to do this at all. All of my trips to Disney were planned inside of three months because that is about the lead time we have in what will be planned for training.

Also it would be interesting to talk about going to Disney over RnR, as I know from experience that RnR dates are set in mud. That the start of RnR all depends upon when you can get flights back to the states which depends on if we are on lockdown, if the weather cooperates etc.

Oh I just read another thread where someone said that they planned a trip in under 45 days, so maybe a shoe on planning trips with a short turnaround time? Some tips for getting reservations etc.

My husband is active duty as well. I think this is a great show idea. Last year, we had to plan a trip in 3 days because my husband was told he had leave that needed to be used or it would be lost. It was hectic, but we did it! When I called Shades of Green I literally booked the last room available

We look at my husbands trainng schedule when it comes out, knowing that it is written in mud, and make plans based on that--and ALWAYS get trip insurance because we know, the minute we don't, they will deny his leave. swear that there are divorced unhappy mean little passed over for promotion soldiers chained in the basement of the Pentagon who's job is to listen in on military families plans and cut orders to foil them.

While I agree that there are specific challenges to military members who want to vacation at WDW, I don't necessarily agree with the bolded comment above. Educators fall in this group of those with a "normal" job who cannot plan out months or even a year in advance. I've experienced this myself especially during the past year with Hurricane Sandy. Still, I think you have some good suggestions here for a discussion or future show.

Would also be interesting to expand the show to include SeaWorld, they have some great deals, we stayed at the double tree for a significantly lower rate, and one day a year your entire family can receive admission to any bush park.

I'm sure there are also other benifits

I wonder if Dreams has a "military" agent. I would think it would be a wonderful service for those in the military. Someone who knows the ins and outs and ups and downs those in the military face.
