Steve McNair, long-time quarterback for the Houston Oilers, Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens, has been killed.

No details at this time other than he was found with a woman (don't think it was his wife) shot to death at an apartment in Nashville.

What in the heck is the world coming to???

I am a HUGE Titans fan and Steve was so involved in our community. This has really devastated me, unlike even MJ's death. This is a major, major loss for Nashville and football fans. May he rest in peace.

Lemondog...Steve McNair was one of the big reasons I was/am a Titans fan (well, except when they play Peyton and the Colts). He really brought excitement to the team.

I honestly hadn't watched any tv today, so I didn't know this until you posted it. Thanks for the info...he will be missed.

I just posted this, sorry I didn't see your post. I thought the Titans did him really crappy last year. Steve always seem to be one of the good guys. I'm shocked and saddened.

There's suppose to be a press conference at 9:30 with what they have found out so far.

Well, it's looking like this girl killed Steve, then herself. And she was arrested Thursday morning for DUI and he was with her, they were in the car that is registered to BOTH of them??? Looking more and more like they were "together." OMG...poor Mechelle McNair. I can't even imagine what she is going through right now.

Such a tragedy.

I feel so bad for his mother. SO terribly sad. Sounds like he was definitely involved with the wrong woman. My boyfriend suggested that it might be a murder/suicide when it happened and the first thing I said was that if it was it was probably the woman that had done it and not him because he always seemed like such a good guy to me. And then I saw the story on ESPN about how his mother was a sharecropper's daughter when she was young and had to work in the cotton fields herself and how he bought the plantation she had worked on for her and I said "he would have never intentionally left his mother like that." My bet would be that he tried to break things off with her and she ended both of their lives.

Although I wasn't a fan of him during his playing days, he did produce of the the greatest Super Bowl endings in history.
"Shotgun for McNair...takes the snap, looks to the right, throws...and it's complete the Titan at the one yard line and he's stopped short! The clock strikes triple zero. Kevin Dyson caught the ball and Mike Jones made the tackle at the one yard line to preserve a win for the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV."

You'll be missed.

Last night ESPN reported 20 shots to the head for him, and one shot for her. If thats true, a murder/suicide makes perfect sense. How horrible.
