Another HH question-- Re: Alligators

I am presently turning blue in the face trying to convince dh to buy an add on at HH. Today he comes home with this: Did you know that HH is swarming with gators?
Help! Defense needed BADLY!!!

Just spent a week at HH and never saw a single gator. They take people out in the marsh every morning for nature tours which I am sure Disney would never permit if their was any risk of liability. I'm sure we share the marsh with some of the green guys but they were well hidden last week. Tell DH he'll have to keep working for a better reason not to add on. Cindy f

I would bet that the Disney property has way more gators that the HH area. We own at HH and have never seen a gator roaming around there.

We have been going to HH for almost 20 years now and have never seen a gator!

While I'm sure there may be some in the neighborhood, the climate is really not the best for those guys (winters are pretty cool/cold). There are lots of dolphins viewable from the resort (they often come in with the tide to feed in the marsh), but gators are not a big concern. Maybe dolphins are what he meant!

but there are a lot of gators at HH!!!! however, like all wildlife if you leave them alone (DON'T FEED THEM!!!!), they leave you alone. Dh and I lived in HH for 2 years. The island is beautiful and we would have stayed there if the money was there. you won't see them where DVC is built, as there isn't any room for them. But, if you golf you will see them in the ponds around the golf courses. Tell DH they are beautiful to look at, just don't touch!!!lol!!!

I saw many alligators at Hilton Head. But they were small on embroidered on peoples golf shirts!

Don't want to bust your bubble, but there are alligators at HHI. Many golf courses seem to have a big "pet" lying around on some water hazard. I have seen several on golf courses that are 4-5 feet. I have seen bigger. But I have never seen one anywhere near DVC.

Sorry for the bad news but ther are gators on HH. We have been going for about 20 years now and almost every year we have seen gators. Some small but not all. But none at DVC.
I wouldn't worry about it.

On national TV, last week during the PGA WORLDCOM CLASSIC at Harbour Town Golf Links at HH, they showed a guy in a golf cart shagging a large alligator. Sorry.

We were on the beach several years ago and noticed the crowds gradually coming out of the water. Pretty soon, a lifeguard from the Hyatt came down the beach and told people to get out of the water because there was an alligator in the ocean. Now that would be a shock, face to face with a gator. They soon captured the critter (pretty small) and took him back to the marsh where he belonged.
