Does anyone have PVC flooring planks? These are strips that look like hardwood but are vinyl and much more durable than laminate. They run a little spendier than laminate, but if it will hold up better then I'm all for it! Just curious if anyone has these or knows somebody who has them. What do you think?

Let me start by saying I work at a flooring store. One of our clients is a property management company with upscale properties. They have used Mannington's Vinyl Tile for several years. They have never had a complaint and reordered often. They have just switched to a product from LG because of cost issues. There first order was in December and have already placed and received another. We have also installed these product commercial for years and have never filled any complaints. Few residential customers purchase these product. The cost for this product compared to laminates is considerably higher so most DYI's pick laminates.
I hope this helps you. I was not trying to recommend one product over another just letting you know our track record with vinyl tile.

A friend just built a fabulous new home with this type of flooring - Kardeen, I think was the brand that she went with. (I could be all wrong and that may have been the one she was also considering). It's beautiful! I would consider it too in a few years for our home. I can't comment on durability (friend has only been in their home for 6-7 months).

We just put in resilient plank flooring in our bathroom. It was easy to install. It took us awhile only because of the cutting we needed to do for the toilet and vanity. I hope it will be durable. It is supposed to be water-proof, but I did put caulking on the seams right next to the shower. We also plan on putting this same type of flooring in our living room to replace carpeting.

My husband and I have installed 2 different brands of the self-stick plank version in our walk-out basement and a rental property. The floor was smooth concrete with no cracks or pits so it was a snap to intstall and wears like iron. We converted the basement for my mother and father (who has a lot of hospital equipment rolling over it constantly). I wish it was suitable for other projects that we have done but if the subfloor isn't clean and smooth, it won't look right or might not stick properly. We have done laminate flooring on several occasions in our rentals/renovations and I REALLY dislike laying it. I don't like the wear factor either. I'd much rather install hardwood than fool with laminate. Just my experience, hope it helps!
