Another flight question!

Sorry guys, get another flight question! After the flying through Ireland thread, I've been looking at Dublin-Orlando prices, and it's looking to save us about £300, so we're fairly certain that's what we'll be booking!

However, with British Airways the return flight is MCO-LGW and then LHR-DUB. As we'd be looking to get back to Cardiff, we don't want to get the last leg of the flight, but it's cheaper than booking MCO-LGW. So my question is, if I don't get that second leg, am I causing all sorts of problems?

I was concerned about luggage first of all, but as you're expected to change airports, I'm assuming they would expect you to pick your luggage up at Gatwick anyway! But what about security issues? Would I be able to just tell BA that I didn't want that second leg? I remember Wayne mentioned Virgin had okayed this apparently, but not sure of the situation with BA.

Have you tried using the multi-city facility on the BA website, and only putting in the specific legs you want? Not only would it avoid booking a leg you don't want but sometimes breaking the journey down into component parts works out cheaper.

I'm a little confused because usually when people say DUB-MCO they're flying on Aer Lingus. I wasn't aware that BA flew that route. But Aer Lingus do fly CWL-DUB so you could presumably do CWL-DUB-MCO.

I know airlines don't generally like people not using legs of their ticket and if you don't use one they may cancel the following legs. But that obviously wouldn't be an issue given that it's the last leg you don't want. You would need to check about the baggage in case, despite the change of airport (LGW to LHR), it was checked through to DUB.

Unfortunately the Cardiff flight time wouldn't work for us so we can only fly Bristol to Dublin with Aer Lingus the night before. I think the Heathrow-Dublin flight is possibly operated by Aer Lingus or Aer Arran?

I've just checked using multi city though so I've managed to sort it thank you! The only issue is that I can't seem to choose premium seats but that wasn't too important, it just seemed like a good price for them!
