According to several posts on one of the other boards it will be called "Winter Dream Package" - or something to that effect - and run from mid-Nov thru early February..

If people jump on this - the way they jumped on the FTP - I think everyone can pretty much kiss away the "low crowds" scenario - and with the shortened hours they have in that time frame, how will anyone be able to accomplish all that they normally would during the "low attendance" season?? :(

I'm not too worried if they do. Most families can't take time off during the school year, so this won't draw very many people.

I bet it's about the equivalent of the AP discounts we all are waiting for.

I sure hope you're right! I don't begrudge anyone a good deal - heck, we're all trying to save money - but we prefer to stay off-site and we SPECIFICALLY planned this trip around the low crowds, MVMCP, and the Osborne Lights (which are a no-go now:() - and the thoughts of having to fight huge crowds during shortened park hours really has me coming a bit unglued.. As a matter of fact, I'm trying to order our MVMCP tickets RIGHT now - just in case they run out..

As it is, we had to shorten our trip because EVERY SW flight from our upstate NY area to Orlando from Nov. 27th to mid-December is booked solid - or you can only "get" there and not get back, or vice versa... Lots and LOTS of people going to Orlando during that time frame...

I know that in early December, there is the Lotusphere convention, so that may be why you are having such problems with the airlines.

We stayed at WDW a few years ago when they had that convention (it's HUGE!!!), and it was great. All the conventioners were at meetings all day and the parks were deserted!!

I was quite happy when I heard our trip this year fell in the Lotusphere window again :D

Thanksgiving is always one of the most crowded times of the year at any US Disney park. I don't think that's too unusual. Post Thanksgiving up until Christmas should be about normal.

I wasn't referring to Thanksgiving.. (Actually I think this new package is going to have black-out dates for Thanksgiving and Christmas..) It's that normally "low" period afterwords that they're hoping to fill..

Well, if the numbers that are being reported on the resorts board are accurate, this package will hardly cause a rush of guests.

This just sounds like a marketing strategy to capitalize on those folks who prefer packages and give the impression that the Winter time frame offers special deals.

I read on another board that this Chirstmas is suppose to be the most crowded in 3 years. I hope not as we will be there during Christmas! I wonder how they can predict these things?!

Actually, Melissa wrote that, not me, but she wrote that T-giving (Nov. 27th) is high crowds, then she said post T-giving up until Christmas (mid-December, right?) is low-

I mean, you did say Nov. 27th (and that is Thanksgiving day, right?) up until Mid-December??

I'm confused, sorry-

Wildman what is the Lotusphere Convention?

I really have no clue what it's for. LOL!! I think it's a convention for software folks that use LOTUS programs, but I'm not 100% sure. It is supposedly one of the bigger conventions that hits WDW.

I remember that all I saw in the food court and around the resorts was folks wearing ID's for the convention. After breakfast time, it was totally barren once they all left for their meetings. Then in the evenings, they would all show up after their meetings were done.

I asked a few if they were going to visit the parks and they all said they had to attend meetings all day, every day they were there. That explains the almost empty parks :D

Well - good.. Because now I'm confused too! LOL :)

Maybe it's because I was talking about two different things at the same time.. Crowds and flights..

I know that the actual week of Thanksgiving can be quite crowded (usually starting on Wed. - the day before T-giving - as I've actually been there at that time) but by Sunday, the 30th, most folks are flying back home.. Then the crowds are supposed to dwindle down considerably until just before Christmas..

However, The flights that are "booked" solid on November 27th (evening), 28th, 29th, 30th, Dec. 1st, etc., would not be "booked" with people GOING for Thanksgiving because the holiday would already be over.. Follow me?

I guess what I'm trying to say (and not very well - LOL) is that if people are JUST flying down AFTER Thanksgiving Day, they wouldn't be considered part of the "holiday crowds"...

Make any sense? Probably not - ha!!! :)

yeah, I got ya.

Don't let booked flights scare you into thinking they are at capicity. The planes are packed becuase they are a lot less planes flying then there was last year.

Hi All, does anyone know the specifics of the package; I am thinking about planning a trip in late Jan/early Feb?

BTW, Hi AWM

From mousesavers.com

Winter Dream Maker Package
Specially discounted Winter Dream Maker packages are available for check-in most nights 11/10/03 - 2/11/04*.

The "lead-in" (sample) rate is for a 3-Night Value Resort package from $99 per adult, per night. That translates to $594 plus tax for a 3-night package for two adults at the All Stars, in Value season. By comparison, if you purchased the components at full price you'd pay:

3 nights All Stars at rack rate, value season = $77 x 3 = $231
2 adult 3 night/4 day Ultimate Park Hoppers @ $227 = $454
Total = $685 plus tax
So even on the lowest-end package, you'd save $91 plus tax. You can get special rates at the Moderate and Deluxe resorts, too. In fact, usually the savings are more substantial the more expensive the hotel. So this is a good deal!

(Also, if you will be staying for at least 4 nights and will be at Walt Disney World on the night of December 5, be sure to check out the "Very Merry Birthday Package" above and learn about all the great free stuff you can get in addition to the regular features of this discounted package!)

The Silver Plan can be added to this package. Standard Disney Club discounts apply for 2003 packages.

*Rates not valid 11/25/03 - 11/27/03 and 12/27/03 - 1/1/04. 3-night minimum length-of-stay required. Quoted prices are based on double occupancy at a Disney Value Resort. Number of packages available at this rate is limited. Advance reservations required. No group rates or other discounts apply. Package must be booked by 9/22/03.

To book this offer, contact a Disney Specialist travel agent and ask for the Winter Dream Maker package or booking code ZXMA.

I read on another board that this Chirstmas is suppose to be the most crowded in 3 years. I hope not as we will be there during Christmas! I wonder how they can predict these things?!

They also guesstimated that they'd have to close California Adventure because too many people would be there.

I don't put too much credence in what the Disney marketing folks say.

And as for trying to snag people with the package, I don't understand how in god's name Disney thinks this will fill rooms the way the fairytale package did. That's like giving a a kid a cookie, and then taking it away after one bite. Give them, basically, a 50% discount, and then no discount at all! You're either breaking even, or paying more.
