My DH and I just returned late last night from a truly magical stay. Everything was PERFECT! We had some truly wonderful meals that I wanted to share with you all since I had picked most of these restaurants based on this board.

9/25 - Our first day!! We ate a quick lunch at the Yakitori House in Japan. DH had the yakitori chicken (he gets it every trip!) & I tried the Shogun special which came with beef in addition to the yakitori chicken. The beef was disappointing - I'll stick with DH's choice of just chicken from now on. Lunch was around $15.

We chose to have our first dinner at Le Cellier based on the reviews here. You guys were right on the mark about the cheddar cheese soup & pretzel bread!!!! Yum!! My only regret was that we ordered one bowl to share - BIG MISTAKE!!! I had the mushroom filet which was very good, but I enjoyed my DH's strip steak with red wine sauce better. We would DEFINATELY eat here again! Dinner was around $70 with tax & tip.

9/26 - Had a good standard lunch at Pinochio's Haus in the MK - I had the burger with as many toppings as could fit (LOL!) and my DH had a hotdog. Average lunch for around $15. It's fun to eat here though and wave to the people on the Small World boat ride.

Our anniversary dinner was at Cinderella's Castle. We were given the best seat in the restaurant (in my opinion) & they had it decorated with "pixie dust" and pink streamers. Dagny at DU must have notified them that it was our anniversary because we didn't mention it. We both ordered the strip steak (can't remember the "official" name) which was perfectly cooked with a stilton potato quiche which was a little too strong (cheese?) for our tastes - neither one of us could eat more than a few bites. But all in all, an excellent meal - would eat here again. Also, they gave us a free dessert for our anniversary. Ordered the smoothie (rasberry - delicious) so I could have the glass as a souvenier of our dinner. :) Dinner was around $75.

9/27 - Lunch was at the ABC Commisary at MGM. It was okay - probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. DH had the chicken yakitori (not as good as the kind at Japan) & I had some vegetable noodle dish which was okay. Again, lunch was around $15.

We ate at the House of Blues for dinner - a spur of the moment decision since we were still at Downtown Disney & didn't get back to our ps at Chefs de France. DH was in the mood for barbeque so we chose this place. Not the kind of place I would have chosen for a "romantic" dining spot, but the food surprised me. DH had the barbeque ribs which he was disappointed in since there wasn't much meat, but he was very happy with the taste - just wanted more!! I took a recommendation by our server to try the salmon which I'm so happy I did. It was a grilled, marinated salmon served over a bed of shrimp & eggplant stuffing with some kind of sauce. I'm telling you it was DELICIOUS! Even though I didn't enjoy the atmosphere of this place, I would definately go back sometime for this entree if I was ever at DD again at dinner time. I think the meal was around $60.

9/28 - I had fish & chips at the UK which I really liked. I'm not a big fried fish fan, but just wanted to try this out. I'm glad I did. I especially appreciated being able to put vinegar on my fries!! I can't remember where my DH ended up eating  Actually, I think he may just have eaten some chocolate mousse from France.

Since we didn't get to eat at Chefs last night, we made a ps for Le Bistro instead. The hostess talked us into it saying it was more quiet & romantic upstairs rather than downstairs at Chefs. It was beautiful up there & very quiet & intimate. If you don't want to dine at V&A, then this is a close second. The service was very attentive & the food exquisite. I had the lobster with some sort of mushroom patee (?) & something else - whatever it was, it was delicious! LOL! That's what happens when you eat at more upscale restaurants - you have no idea what it is you're eating - you just know it's good!! MY DH had the duck which was excellent as well - very very tender & flavorful. I don't normally care for duck, but I could have eaten his entree as well as mine!!
I'm not sure how much dinner cost because my DH wouldn't let me look! LOL! I'm guessing it was around $130 or so.

9/29 - I grabbed a turkey leg at MGM which was very good - I like the smoky taste of it and it was very tender, falling off the bone. I only ate 1/4 of it though.... I can't remember what DH ate again....maybe he just got a dessert again??? Well, now that I'm thinking about it, he did!! He got a sundae from Beaches & Cream when we went back to the room. I guess you can do that sort of thing when you don't have your kids with you!! LOL!

Dinner was at Citricos. Wow! This was a great restaurant! I don't understand why this place was so empty. I think there were only 5 other tables in our dining room besides us........... Our waiter recommended the quail as an appetizer & it was SUPERB!! Get this if you have visit this restaurant!! It was to die for!! It was 3 pan-seared quail with creamy polenta & artichoke. My DH and I joked that in the future we would each order a few of these & make a meal of it! The chef also brought out an additional appetizer at no charge for us to try. He was experimenting in the kitchen & wanted our opinion! It was mushroom risotto rolled into balls & dipped into some sort of batter & deep fried - delicious! Hope they add this to their menu! Anyways, my DH ordered the chicken which he enjoyed, but I went against the grain of my waiter & ordered the paprika & honey-marinated pork tenderloin. He was highly recommending the veal shank or the lamb dish. I asked about the pork since I had heard a few good things about it here on the DIS boards & he said it was kind of bland, that he didn't particularly care for it,but I went ahead and ordered it anyways. Sorry guys, I have to side with the waiter here. It was on the bland side. The pork was very moist & tender, but it lacked any real flavor. It would have expected a more sweet taste to it due to the honey. It was beautifully presented though - so pretty, you hated to "dig in". Dinner I think was around $80.

9/30 - Our last day! :( We had lunch at Marakkesh & pretty much sampled everything here :) We had the beef brewat rolls (these are great!!) At first I was a little skeptical thinking beef & powdered sugar don't mix - LOL! But they were very very tasty. We also had the chicken kebobs, the shish kebobs (beef) & the lamb which was very good. I don't normally eat lamb, but this was good. The belly dancer was fun to watch as we ate, but I was scared to death that she was going to come over & drag me onto the dance floor with her as she did a few other ladies!! It was a good meal, but after our other dinner, I couldn't say it was outstanding in any way. Lunch was around $35.

Whew!! I'm sorry this is so long! It took me forever to type - hope you enjoy!! :) :)

Thanks for the great reviews, I love reading what other people have to say about the restaurants they ate at. I was surprised to hear that there was only a few people at Citro's, we have thought about eating here sometime.

I too enjoyed reading your informative reviews... thanks.:D

Thanks for the nice reviews. I'm with you - in the "better" restaurants I know what I like, even if I don't know what I am eating!! :)

We're heading to Citricos in about a month - thanks to your review I am looking forward to it even more!!!

threeboysmom,

Thank you for the reviews. I think the longer and more detailed the better. Yours were great!

Anymore details on dinner at Cindy's? We have a PS for a November dinner. I am thrilled about eating in the castle, I'm just not so sure about my all male family.

How was the quality of the food? I can not seem to find an updated menu for dinner. We generally do not eat beef. I was just wondering what our other choices would be.

I am hoping for a window seat and if nothing else, a magical dining experience in the MK.

Sounds like you and your husband had a wonderful trip!

Thanks again,
penny

Reviews are my favorite part of this board. Thanks for sharing! I think we may have to try Citricos on our next trip.

Penny - I'm sorry I can't help you out much about the menu at CRT. I had checked the menu beforehand at Deb Willis's site & so I knew already that I wanted the strip steak (Grand Duke?) when I arrived. I didn't really look at the menu when I arrived other than a cursory glance - it seemed very close to the one posted on Deb's site. Both my husband and I ordered the exact same dish so I can't really comment on variety - our steaks were cooked perfectly though!!! I would definately eat here again. I have 3 boys (they stayed home this trip) but I think they would really enjoy eating in the castle for dinner since the princesses aren't there so I'm sure your "all male family" would enjoy it!!! It's beautiful inside and you feel like royalty dining up there. :) I say check Deb's site and see if there are any non-beef entrees that interest you & then make your priority seating!

Fantastic reviews! I love all the details - it helps so much when planning future trips.

I wonder if you had the same table DH and I had when we went their for lunch last week. We were seated at a table for two right in the middle of the window. There was a perfect view of the sword in the stone and the carousel. I thought it was the best seat in the place!

Although, I did notice that since the air vent is on the floor right there, it made the table rock a little bit

I have a picture of our table here:

That was our table all right!! Your picture came out much better than ours. We were very dark in the picture with the lighting from the window right behind us. I didn't notice the table rocking from the air vent though.......I guess I was too busy enjoying my food & the atmosphere :)

Great reviews. One question...do you normally enjoy Stilton cheese but just found it too strong in this dish? My husband and I LOVE Stilton but I'm wondering about that combination?

BCV23 - That was our first experience with Stilton cheese - LOL! We both thought it was way too strong tasting. But I guess if you already know you like it, you'd probably love this potato quiche. :)
