Another Day of School added to End of Year

We've already used our snow days provided at the end of the school year in June. Unless we get a state of emergency repreve it looks like we'll be attending school during spring break to make the days up...it's out 2nd set of make up days. Looking at the district calendar I don't think we can add days onto the end of the school year as it mentions "last day of teachers". Perhaps that's just wishful thinking.

Our school usually tacks on extra days in the beginning, and takes them away if we don't use them, and the kids get out earlier. I heard that although the last day of school is scheduled for June 23rd, we'd get out on the 17th if we had no snow days (but that has never happened).

DS's does something similar to this.

Most of our systems have 2 or 3 built in days, but we've already used like 6 so they're using the built ins, canceling teacher inservice then adding 1 to 2 days at the end.

More snow predicted Thursday, but it may miss the central area and just get scatted areas.

Poor kids, LOL Poor teachers.

We have several 'days off' built in...president's day, the Friday before spring break, Easter Monday..we use those for snow days.

We will go the Friday before spring break now.

My kids go to a catholic school & we do not have school busses, so we hardly ever miss, it's great! We live in Indiana, if we were on the east coast, we would be out for sure.

But our state mandates 180 days and if you miss more than 5 due to weather, you can petition the state to grant you an exemption for making up any days after the 5th one. (We don't technically answer to the state, but that's another thread) This happens frequently in rural areas of the state and I am sure this will happen this year.

We have 5 snow days built in to the end of the year. We ALWAYS use them all and most of the time we have even more. They will sometimes take back a teacher's inservice day or other holiday, one year they added some minutes to each school day. They have NEVER interfered with Spring Break.
