As the cayman for walking day after day at WDW?

I convinced DH that we should break down and get some pairs...the kids have had them for years....we just don't like the style, so never got them....if I do wear them besides at WDW I wanted the Mary Jane style

Any experiences?

The Mary Janes are a slimmer fit than the Caymans but just as comfy. Check out the website as they are coming out with a few more slimmer styles.

IMHO, YES!!!!!! I wore my Mary Jane style Crocs for a week at WDW last November and was SO comfortable the entire time! I think they're easier to walk in than the other styles because they're not as bulky. I do have a slightly narrrow foot though, so that might be why. I LOVE my Mary Janes and agree that they're so much cuter and more feminine than the other styles!

Here's a pic of me in my Mary Janes (complete with pirate Jibbitz) at Epcot. I'm in the middle with the curly hair.

If you have wide feet...Mary Janes (or the new Alice and Celeste styles) are probably not going to be as comfy as beaches or even caymans. I tried Mary Janes on in the store and they felt way too narrow for me with my wide tootsies. I wear beaches and scutes to the parks. My Cleos will be making their first trip in three weeks. I plan to buy some Celestes as soon as I find them available, but I am sure they'll never make it to the parks either, they look narrow-ish too.

I love the style of the Mary Janes, and they are great for walking around town, shopping, etc, but... I don't like them so much for a full day at WDW. In January, I brought 4 different style Crocs with me for a weeklong trip. I rate them as follows:

1- Beach (Disney style or regular)
2- Cayman
3- Mary Jane
4- Athens (only because I didn't like the flip flop between the toe thingy)

The reasons for the ratings:

The Beach has a nice loose fit, making it the most comfortable for all day walking around. The Beaches stayed cool (no sweaty feet) and they never rubbed or created hot spots or blisters. The sole is nice and thick, so walking and standing on pavement all day didn't hurt my feet.

The Caymans were almost as good- I gave the Beaches a very slight edge because the Caymans are a bit more narrow, so they felt just a tiny bit more warm and sweaty in the heat of midday.

There was a noticeable difference for me in the way my feet felt after a full day in the Mary Janes- the sole isn't as thick and cushioned (and there isn't as much arch support, IMO), so by sunset (after wearing them since rope drop), I could really "feel" the pavement under my feet. I felt the need to sit down on a few occasions because of achy feet with the MJs- never felt that way with the Beach or Cayman styles.

If the Athens had had a thinner (fabric, maybe, instead of foam) toe post, I would have liked them very much. I actually had to change out of them and into other Crocs halfway through the day, because I was developing a blister on my toe from the toe post. If you get used to them, and can handle a thick toe post, they might be the most comfy for you, since they are very lightweight, are open so your feet stay cool, and the sole is a cushy as Beaches.

I haven't worn thongs since I was a kid and so I tried on some Athens, and I agree about that thick post! I didn't see how I could ever get used to that.

I did think about getting some Teva Mushes since they have a fabric thong, but got the Teva Dozers instead, because I really liked the look and they felt wonderful in the store. I know those won't be going along to Disney, either. They make my heels ache after a day of walking :(

thanks everyone on your opinions....I'm still loving the mary jane style, but this purchase is mostly for walking shoes for WDW....so maybe I'll get the Caymans....I live in CO and I didn't realize there were Beach vs Cayman...funny...I think I've only seen Caymans as the main seller at the kiosks, etc. Now what color if I get the 'bulkier' ones???:confused3

Gosh, that is a really subjective thing. I have black, lime green, pink, pink/yellow tie dye, and light blue. When at WDW, I wear all colors and don't mind, but I do seem to wear the black ones much more than any other color at home.

Depends on how "flashy" you want to be, I guess. I love the red Disney ones for WDW! My next ones will probably be black (wore out my other ones), and navy for fall and winter. But, I really love the teal/aqua color ones, and the red, and the orange... :rolleyes1 I could buy them in every color!

I have the scutes right now and they are WAY too wide for me! My foot looks lost in them! But, they are comfortable.

Does anyone know if the Caymans are less wide than the Scutes? I'm thinking about getting a pair of those.

I have the Athens flip flops too and those are so comfy...except for the part between the toes - I agree its too thick and probably couldn't walk around the parks in them all day.

So, I think I'm going to try the Caymans...just don't know what color yet.

Northie, does your Cleos squeak? I love the ones I have but they squeak loudly and it doesn't matter if it's wet or dry, inside or outside. It's annoying but they are so comfortable that I put up with the noise. I can't wear most sandals because I need an arch support but these are great.

Have you seen the new Hallmark Crocs? Designed JUST FOR HALLMARK!! They are cute - come with a ribbon - they are slimmer - no back strap - so think MaryJanes without the back part and a thick ribbon (that you can take off!)

As for that thick rubber in the flip flop style - when I complained one was thicker than the other and annoying - ds took his dremil tool to it - be careful tho you could ruin them for good!!

NEW flip flop style that doesnt have the rubber, but a ribbon for between the toes!! There is also a style that has to ribbon type that goes over the foot so nothing between the toes - but they were too narrow for my foot? there was no "give to the ribbon" that went over the foot - the one style that has the rubber that goes over the toe area that has a back strap, not good for pronating feet!! That gave me blisters!!

I have the scutes right now and they are WAY too wide for me! My foot looks lost in them! But, they are comfortable.

I have both Scutes and Caymans. I think the Scutes are narrower than the Caymans. I prefer the Scutes as they are not as bulky looking. Good luck with your selection! :wizard:

I have caymans, mary janes and the capri (the new flip flops with microfiber material that goes between the toes). I have a 6 in the caymans and capri, but had to go with a 7 in the mary jane. I can't say how they compare in Disney yet!

Note to self: stop by Hallmark on the way home from work to purchase hubby a card that says I love you.... just because. Accidentally notice new style crocs on way back from card aisle.

Tinkerchele, have you tried any of the styles that are made especially for women? The Capris, Cleos, or Patras? They have a narrower footbed, so might be better for you. I have the Cleo style- I really like them. Since the Athens toe-thingy is too thick for me, I really need to try the Capris to see if I like them better.

I haven't tried them yet, but I'm going to check them out! I might end up buying one pair of every style just to find the right one for me :rotfl:

Yep. That's me. I now have several pairs of Beaches (Disney-bound), 2 pr of Scutes I will take one pair of (these are so comfortable, got a second pair because I love them, and added bonus, they can hold jibbitz in the holes when you go to the World!), 2 pair of Niles (7 and 8...8's too big. 7's a bit snug so they will never see Disney), a pair of Cleos in 8 that are too big, Ok for schlepping around and short trips but not sure they would work at the World, so waiting for the 7's I ordered the other day to arrive. I really wish Crocs would make half sizes! How tough could it be?

I have also collected Teva Apres Clogs, Teva Dozers, Keen Shanti clogs, and Keen Newports, and one pair of Alpine somethings that looks like Keen Newports I got at Sports Authority on sale the day I bought the Dozers. (They were red and they were cute, shoeaholic here!) So far not one of them has stood up to the "walking test" which is hit the Mall of America and do all three retail floors all the way around. Not just walking, but stopping to shop and such and stand in line for food and whatever...every one of these killed my feet by the end of a few hours at the Mall, making my heel ache really badly for several days afterward. A couple of them even gave me hotspots and the Keen Newports a small blister. (The Keen Newports didn't have the blister. I did!)

So far Crocs are way in the lead, not one blister or hotspot in 2 8-day trips to Disney: Beaches (extra comfy), then Scutes (cooler for the September Florida heat), and I will test out the Cleos when the 7's arrive! Might take those too.

I have the brown mary janes which I bought about 2 weeks ago. They rub and gave me a blister. I'm trying to work through it, because I love them

This is a great summary. Our whole family bought Crocs the kids and I got Caymans and my wife got the Mary Jane's. Me and the kids were fine although I was getting a little rub on tops of my feet so, I agree Beach's would probably be a little better. However, my wife was miserable in her Mary Jane's and she did not bring a backup pair of sneakers. I can't even describe the size of the blisters she got on her toes. I will say that I think she bought them too small so make sure you get a good size and a bit bigger. She wore them for 2 weeks before the trip to break them in and get used to them and she was confident she'd be fine with just crocs but as we all know, NOTHING can prepare you for walking at WDW. So, the only advice I'd give is to bring a back up pair of sneaks.
