Another check-in time question

Our flight is scheduled to get into MCO at 11:00pm and we are getting a rental car on this trip. So, even if everything goes according to plan and there are no delays or issues with our travel, I do not see us arriving to check into our resort until midnight at the very earliest.

My question is, what does DVC consider the time of a new day? If we were to arrive to check in at 3am on a Friday morning(or even 1am), would we have to use points for a Thursday night stay or would we just start our points out on the Friday nights points?

The only issue that jumps right out is if we didn't book for the Thursday night, we could run the risk of having to wait until the 4pm check-in time on Friday, right? That is a chance I am not willing to take!

Thanks in advance for any advice or clarifications you can offer!

We had the same scenerio a couple of years ago. The unfortunate thing is that you basically lose the value of your points on Thusday night which you would need to have booked to be able to check in when you get there. What we ended up doing is booking a night at the Swan and saved the points from the first night and then went over and checked in the following morning. Bell services kept our bags and we got a call at about 4:00PM saying our room was ready. The other reason we did this is because we saved on flights so the Swan made even more sense.

I am seriously starting to consider that option. Has anyone stayed at airport inside MCO? I think we may be too tired to even leave the airport and we can start fresh in the morning.
