another castaway cay question

My husband has trouble walking distances and was wondering where the beach is in relation to the tram. I was told the tram goes as far as the family beach which is not a problem since we will be traveling with grandkids. The other question is how far is the lunch bar b q in relation to the beach? thanks

Depending on where you go on the beach...the tram is relatively close (2-3 min. walk at a slow pace). Again, depending on where you put yourself on the beach, the BBQ is just across a walk way...everything is relatively close. There is another tram that will take you to the adults beach, and that tram stop is about a 4-5 min walk from the ship tram.

This is what we did:

One of us got off the ship right away at CC while the other took the kids to breakfast. The one getting off, walked briskly(the tram doesn't leave until it's somewhat full) to the very first entrance onto the family beach that is also right across from Cookies BBQ (there's a break in the shrubbery), put towels down, and then hopped the tram and returned to the ship to get the others. My kids and husband don't move quite as quickly as I do in the morning so this worked well and saved walking and searching when we had little ones AND when I traveled with my mom who also doesn't walk long distances anymore. I've done this every cruise for the past four cruises and it works well. Good luck!

thanks soo much. Greatly appreciate the info. Since he had his operation he has a weakness on the left side and doesn't get that foot off the ground too well so sand walking is extremely hard for him.When we go to the beach here in Florida,we go where we can drive the car right on the beach .So this info is very helpful to me. thanks.......

They also have some wheelchairs available on Castaway Cay, the walk is really not bad.
