Just bought my britta bottle (some hard to find::yes:: ). Are they like the pitcher where once you use them, you have to keep the filter wet? If that's the case I will wait till we get there to use it for the first time.

Also, can I get it filled up anywhere at Disney parks? Do the vendors think you're cheap asking for just ice water?

I also just purchased my bottles and would like any info. on use and care from you experienced users. I got mine for $1 each at Kmart, so I bought 4 since they were so cheap. We will spend 9 days in the parks in Nov. how many filters would one typically go through?

$1?????

Wow! I thought I did great at $7.99. I'm never lucky enough to get great buys like that! They say bottles of water costs $2.50 in the parks. Think how much money you saved already:earseek:

That's what I'm thinking!!! $!.....what an awesome deal!! Was that a recent purchase?

Yes! I just bought them today. The were marked $4, some rang up $2 and some $1 so she just gave me them for $1. I was excited about $4, then $2, and I grabbed another when she said $1. I could buy some and mail them to those who need them, but probably the mailing cost would offset the bargain!

We used our Brita bottles on our trip last month. There are instructions in the package re getting the filter prepared (fill up the bottle and squirt the water thru the filter to get it "primed"). I think you can use one filter for 58-60 quarts (refills). We were there 10 days and did not change filters (maybe filled up the bottles 2-3x/day). As for ice, just ask for a "courtesy cup of ice" at the concession stands. No one refused us and it helped keep the water cold throughout the day. A funny aside...I was at the Petrified Fries stand at AK and ordered fries (because the kids "were going to die" without a snack) and 2 courtesy cups of ice. A British couple behind me asked what a courtesy cup was.....turns out they has been buying coke with ice their entire trip and throwing out the Coke just to get the ice for their water bottles!!.
