DAY 11 – Tuesder – I think

After our lazy day Monder , everyone was up by 7 yesterder and had them out by 8:30.
I decided to try enterin the US/IoA carpark via Kirkman Road for a change and what a result that was.
Us and three other cars had the choice of lanes to ourselves. We got parked in Spidey as near to the main walkway as yer can get and could see the other entrance from there as we walked out. All 12 lanes were chocka with cars – must have been 20 cars deep.

The walkways were already busy as we walked in and most seemed to be headin to IoA ,which wasn’t what we wanted to see. They must have all gone left into Marvel Super Hero Land coz we went right and it was dead.
The plan was to take the Boy on Fire and Ice asap, before a line built up, and then back to SeussVille for the Bairn and V.
Gary was strugglin from the moment we left the house. He’d complained of a stiff knee yesterer – from the kartin – and we’d hoped it would ease with a day’s rest. It hadn’t and he was hobblin quite badly.
‘Well, he’d better not moan. Coz we don’t ‘do’ moanin and feelin sorry for ourselves us Robinson Menfolk ’
Mind, our Julie reckoned he kept shiftin the limp from one leg to the other – she was really concerned as yer might tell.
Anyways, we hobbled up the entrance and the CM said only Ice was workin at the mo. Which was a shame, coz I didn’t reckon I’d get him on it again so he’d miss out on the main point of the ride, but we were there then, so we had to do it.
Luckily, Fire came online just as we were about to board, so some ran over there and we had a race – which was nice.

The Boy hadn’t liked the near-misses and said it hurt his knee ?!

What he meant was it hurt his knee bendin it, sittin on the ride.

Oh, right.

Took the ladies to SeussVille and did Cat in The Hat – which we love. Julie didn’t want to do One Fish ,Two Fish but the girls did the Carouseussell – which was a ridiculously short ride in mine and The Boy’s opinion.

We’d got Express Passes for Sinbad at 1:00 – as it only has two shows a day at the mo, and Poseidon wasn’t on till 11- and this was only 10.15 - so we went over to do Hulk. 30 minute line and the Lad wasn’t that bothered about single rider – I had thought the stairs might be a bit much on his knee anyway.
Julie didn’t want to do Spidey and there wasn’t time to do the water rides so we headed back to Poseidon.

It was red hot already, and all this walkin was doin us no good.
We waited at Poseidon in the shade and were glad to be one of the first to get in coz it was cool in them there tunnels.
We’ve not done this , or Sinbad before – always had summat else to do -and decided as they were more likely to be V’s sort of thing (which is probably why we’ve missed them out before) to make a point of doin them this time.
Our Julie wasn’t impressed with the dark and the bangs but loved the Tour Guide. He was a good actor and really funny.

By now we were starving and it was soo hot so we chose The Fire Eater’s Grill just outside.
We’d recommend the food here but don’t get the Fire-Eater’s Chicken Thingies !!!

Me and The Lad love spicy and hot food but these things?

Whoaahhh!!!!

The sauce was like a pepper vinegar and very hot. Apart from strippin yer lips and tongue it was very nice and came with celery and carrot fingers to dip in a sour cream and cheese dip – we poured ours onto the chicken thingies to counteract the fire – and fries. V got a Gyro – a wrap with beef or lamb (she couldn’t figure which and I had no taste buds left after the first chew on me own bait) served with fries, and the Bairn got chicken fingers and fries and NO sauce. Oh and the refillable Universal bottle was good here too, so that saved us on buyin pop (well other than the $1.95 refill charge). The AP came into it’s own again and we saved $7 on the meal and my Bud.(V says to remember we got two , giant, cookies too-I’ve just told her to stop addin to me notes or it’ll bore yers)
We’ve found the discounts to be more available at US/IoA than at Disney so far. (and V says SeaWorld and Busch are by far the best as they give discounts at all outlets.)

Thank you Dear.

By now it was pushin Noon so we made our way round to Jurassic Park for the River Ride - 25 minute line and no single riders. We decided not to bother.
Dudley Do Right was posted at 1 hour so we decided it wasn’t worth it to even try Bluto’s Barges.
It was so very hot and we really wanted to get wet, but not get fried in a line waitin to get on. Besides it’s Sinbad time in about 30 odd minutes, so we just shuffled back to The Lost Continent to stake our place in the line.

Trouble with only bein two shows a day and the park bein so busy today was that even with EPs we had to line up early to be sure of a good seat.
Thought the system was poor tbh. They let the EPs in at the bottom of the theatre while they unleashed the StandBy Line from the top. What’s the point of havin a EP if yer’ve got to rush to fight for a seat with a liner? I know the point is guaranteed entry but these Americans are so competitive about runnin for the best seats it might well have brought out the worst of me if we hadn’t been near the front of the rush.

The show wasn’t what I expected – and haven’t had time to ask the others – and was more Panto than stunt show. A pleasant surprise, though not sure I’d bother again.

We’d decided long before Sinbad that we’d had enough of IoA for today and weren’t gonna stand in line for owt.
Time for Typhoon Lagoon.

We got there, after a little souvy shoppin on I Drive, around 3ish and , while busy, we found room off the main beach. V was happy coz it was right beside an entrance to the Lazy River so she would find it no bother.
Maybe, but the drinks thingy was too, and she walked straight passed that when we sent her for refills and wasted 10 minutes wanderin all the way over to the main area and back –and still didn’t see ‘our’ drinks/foody place as she walked passed it again. It’s a wonder she found her way back come to think of it.

Anyways, they all went straight into the lazy river and I sat back with a strategic Bud. We were doin Disney Quest/Downtown next, so I only had to cross the road so another wouldn’t hurt uz and it’d been 3 hours since me first one. I joined them in the LR for a second circuit then took me little Angel over to the surf pool for a plodge. Gary didn’t want to do it and though he didn’t say, I reckon he was worried his knee would buckle under him in the waves.

I found a nice little raised eatin area as me and The Bairn walked into the pool and went back for V to move camp – it was after 4 now and the place closed at 5 , so no-one was usin it.
We sat and enjoyed the view till just before closin, then went and changed to beat the rush.

Dropped the kids off at DQ and left them a walkie talkie while me and V went to ‘do’ Downtown. We went back for them around 6:30 and they’d had a great time – makin their own coaster, and ridin the Buzz bumper thingy three times in succession coz it was that quiet. Oh, and the first thing they’d done was go to the Internet Lounge – which they’ve never bothered with before – so Gaz could check on the up to date Sunderland position.
He’s not as loud as me or our Julie, but he cares.

So we had a few goes on the amusements and left to go find tea. The feelin was comin back to one side of our faces so we reckoned it was safe to eat again.

The kids chose Golden Coral – again – so we went there. I don’t mind coz I just get the beef and steak with a bit of mash, some mushrooms and gravy and it’s like havin a dinner.
A sweet of Apple pie, peach crumble (they call it summat different but Vs still in bed so can’t ask)

Cobbler, she says.

Watch yer mouth , I said!

and ,of course, the banana pud – it’s worth the money on it’s own.

The kids went round and round and had their fill and we finally dragged them out of there.
Me and V had wondered about doin Reflections to finish off the night, but I reckoned I’d be too tired drivin home after 9:30 so we headed for Belz –coz the Lad still hadn’t managed to find a shirt he liked (and Dad’s favourite CD store is here too – but I kept that to meself).
As we drove up at 9:00 (there were road works on I Drive) I got that ‘been here before’ feelin. Remembered one night on another holider when we came to shop and they were just closing – yep it’s 9:00 closin.
So that’s two times in a few days we’ve got there to watch the shutters come down. And after comin out of the way and sufferin the roadworks on I Drive. We got home after 9:30 and I’d been right- I was dog tired.

One beer with Sam and off to bed.

Oh, forgot, when we got out the car at Golden Coral, the lad’s knee buckled under him. He said it had done that a couple of times. That seems more like ligament or cartilage trouble to me so will have to see what he’s like today. Our yompin activities might just have to be slowed down till next time.

(I’ve been getting a bad back and some hip pain through all the walkin, but haven’t complained. Well, I don’t like to.)

JULIE’S BIT AT THE END

We got to Uni/IoA quite early and managed to beat the traffic which was great. Gaz and Dad went on Fire and Ice. I sat on watched the lizards while waiting for them.
Gary was complaining that he had a bad leg from go-karting but I noticed about every 5 steps he would shift his limp to the other leg.

Mam wanted to do sinbad so we got EP for that.

We then went to Seussville were we did one of my favourite ride cat in the hat. Mam then dragged me on the carousel thing.

We went to Poseidon’s Adventure and I get quite nervous the first time I go on a ride so I got a bit scared with the fire and stuff like that coz I wasn’t expecting it. But the tour guide was hilarious.
It was a good ride and will do it again.

We were hungry so saw there wasn’t a queue at The Fire Eater’s Grill so we went there to eat.
Dad and Gary got these fire chicken things. Mam got a wrap and I got some normal chicken things. I was so glad that I didn’t get the fire things, which I was thinking about, coz by the end dad was literally sweating.

It was so hot that we decided to go on a wet ride; unfortunately that was everyone else’s idea. So for about 10 minutes we stood next to a massive fan to cool down. Then we made our way to Sinbad.

I was amazed at the bad system coz as they let the EPs people from the bottom they let the liners in from the top and for a second I thought we weren’t going to get a seat.
It was a good show and was really funny but I think it was one of those ‘been there, done that’

We then headed for Typhoon Lagoon. We me, Gaz and mam went in the Lazy river then Dad joined us for the one lap.
I went in the wave pool while everyone sat and watch.

Later me and Gary went to DQ while mam and dad went shopping.
We practically had the place to our self we went on Buzz 4 times and were just playing against the same people coz we everyone was just joining the queue when it ended. We then went on a few car games and gary went on 18 wheeler (a truck game) and I did the horn for him. We then made a rollercoaster which just went round in a circle coz I don’t like drops or going upside-down.
Then remembering that my friends had I.T the next day, I sent them an e-mail card.

We went to golden coral, strangely Gary leg didn’t seem to stop him from going to get loads of food

We went back to the villa and then to bed.
