Another ? about Disney gift cards

I just received my Target red card and I'm intrigued by the idea of using the Disney gift cards to pay on our November 2014 trip since that trip will cost us $5200. My question is this......if a promotion such as a room discount or free dining comes out and the majority of the trip (aside from the $600 deposit I made with my debit card upon booking) has been paid with gift cards how do they issue the credit for the promotion?

You get credited back the way you paid, so keep all those gift cards - even after you apply them to your trip.

It will go back to the gift cards. Because Target sells $50 cards, I keep all of the used cards in a fire safe. Once we get home I will throw them out.

The CM told me you need to keep all the gift cards, incase you cancel, the money gets returned on the cards. I have kept them all.

I think I have to get over the initial "fear" of putting that much in gift cards. We do use them for our spending money.....saved $500 in gift cards for souvenier money and tips for our last trip, but have never used them for paying on a trip. Just scared that an emergency will arise, and we will need that money. I know I know I should get over that. LOL! Anyone else ever feared investing that much money in gift cards?

Buy what you will use, I got mine at Kroger's (4X fuel rewards) the night before I paid off our trip which was 45 days before. It was easier since I got $500 gift cards.
