Annual Ticket Increase

Aloha,

When does Disney historically increase their AP and General Admission Tickets? I ask because I am planning a trip for summer of 2015 and would like to purchase before the hike in prices.

If you purchase general park tickets, how long are they good for?
We're planning an Oct trip I think. During Fall Break when just about every other family in Hawaii decides to go to DLR too

Tickets purchased NOW are good through December 31, 2015.

If you have the money and are going "for sure" then go ahead and purchase now. Otherwise, I wouldn't gamble it.

The ticket prices (and AP prices) have gone up in May for the last couple of years. I expect that the same thing will happen this year (it certainly wouldn't be any later than that, with the 60th anniversary celebration essentially kicking off in May), and with very little notice. I think that when word of the increase got out, everyone found out only 2 or 3 days in advance, at most. So a lot of people were scrambling to get their tickets and APs before the new prices kicked in.

Nothing new. You have to use them by 12/31, but after that you have until the 13th to use the rest of the days on the ticket (so your first day could be 12/31 and your last day 1/13, but your first day couldn't be 1/1).

They should put that on the ticket for further elaboration, not to mention the typo I have on mine that says "fisrst visit".

Doesn't really matter for me since I used my 2-day ticket already, but all it says on the back is "Ticket expires 13 days after fisrst visit or 1/13/2016, whichever comes first". With that wording, I would have thought with the 2-day ticket, one could go to the park on 1/12 and 1/13.

I've never gone the voucher route for APs -- I've usually just gotten mine at the ticket booth or in the mail. So I am not completely up to date on what happens with the vouchers in relation to the activation date. Is it still the case where, if you have a voucher, the AP is not officially activated until you bring the voucher to DLR? If so, then I would get the vouchers as soon as possible if you can swing it.

To be honest, you can never be completely certain of what Disney is going to do with their ticket price increases. Often times, just when we think we have them nailed down to a predictable pattern, they switch things up on us! Last year the prices went up on or around May 18th, I think it was, but if they begin rolling out any of the new entertainment for the 60th anniversary prior to that time, they could raise the prices even sooner. They could suddenly decide to raise them in March. There's no telling what will happen.

There was one instance -- and it was sometime in the last 5 or 6 years but I can't recall exactly when -- in which the prices were increased at least 2 (if not 3) times within a 12-month time frame. There was a regular summer increase, then a small increase in January and then another increase in late spring or early summer, as I recall! And then there was one year when the APs got hit with a huge increase -- much bigger than normal -- and that shocked everyone!

I have never seen tickets good for longer than a year. Where did you buy them with just a long exp. date.

Thank you for the input. We got vouchers a few years ago before an increase and they had to be redeemed by the end of that year and then were good for a year.
I want to buy DVC ones, but can't find them online, so will wait and watch for any announced increases.
