The event was this past weekend, you can no longer sign up for the show.
How did you find out about in the first place? I'm an AP holder too and had no idea this show went on.

I know this is after the fact, but how did you sign up online. There was no form online to fill out. It clearly stated that the only way to sign up was at a ticket booth.

Jeez, why did they do it that way? Do they want to avoid overcrowding or something? I would have gone for this is I had known. I'm disappointed.![]()
I am sorry I mis-typed. Our local friend did in fact register at the ticket booths, we were two of the party of four that she could bring. (We registered for AP early entry online).
They probably did it that way because they didn't need to do anything more to get what they wanted. I think this special AP event may have been more about fulfilling a need of Disney's than rewarding AP holders. They ran three WoC shows with the hat giveaway. What's the WoC capacity, 4000-5000 people? There are supposedly more than a million APs, and Disney only needed 12,000-15,000 people to show up. Putting the word out the way they did got more than enough interested takers. I don't actually know what the purpose was in running the shows but I have seen a number of suggestions that make sense including bringing in warm bodies to wear the hats for promotional tapings and using APs as a form of free advertising. If APs who got the hats for free start wearing them around the parks or tell their friends about them, other people might be inclined to buy these hats for themselves.
That makes sense, thanks.
Exactly. There are a million APers. Imagine if Disney put the word out for three shows, it would be insane. So they were pretty subtle and you could only sign up in person. To me it is surprising that they gave away the ears to APers who would soon be blocked for the entire summer (SoCal folks), which would not be a good strategy to get others to buy the ears. But perhaps as the PP said, they were looking for promotional video opportunities or whatever.
Social media is really the way to go here, I learn a lot about events, etc. from Twitter and Facebook. And of course, here on the Dis.![]()

Isn't the park blocked already for socal select users? You were only able to bring annual passholders who weren't blocked so i'm assuming if you were able to bring these people, then they would have access to the park over the summer.
I don't think the impact of the SoCal and SoCal Select APs was that big a deal since the Select were blocked out all three nights and the SoCal were blocked out two of the three. Heck, even deluxe were blocked out on Saturday, so that was just a special showing for premiums.
Yes, the selects were blocked, but one night at least the socal pass was valid. I just think it is funny to give the socal people a new set of ears and then basically they are blocked the rest of the summer. But probably most people that got the ears were not blocked out.![]()
yeah but they will be able to use them when they can come back right?
Oh sure, but I don't know how long the Glow with Show thing will be going on. Past summer? Who knows?

I think Disney deliberately wanted locals who would be coming back to the parks at a later date, wearing their mickey ears. These AP holders would have to make the effort to sign up in person, and then show up at the show, If they go through this effort, Disney probably figured they would happily wear their ears at the parks after that as well. Disney probably also figured that all the friends of the APers would also want those amazing ears, beacuse the APers would talk up the fabulous experience they at at Glow with the Show.
Can I just say, that I love these ears and that performance of Glow with the Show was the most spectacular WoC performance I have ever seen.
BTW, I heard about this from a friend that I ran into at the Carsland Preview Event. I never heard about it from Disney or on any of the fan sites.
