Annual passholder discount at Disney of 10 to 20% through Sept 30!

I bet I was at Mousegears about 2...maybe 2:30. Grrrrr!

Maybe the CMs just didn't pay attention and gave you the PAP discount?

The more I read this thread, it makes my head hurt!

It's not that difficult for Disney to send out an official policy memo that should be posted at every register - it would then list the current promos. None of this behind the scenes stuff, as that doesn't work.

I'm a teacher, so our school board sends out many memos, policy changes, etc. Some we actually have to sign off on with our immediate supervisor (VP, Principal, etc.), others get posted in Staff Room or Department offices, and others are just to be read on our internal BBS system.

It's not that difficult, yet Disney always makes it so difficult, and drags the customer into the middle of it. I've had several instances over the years, where CMs were incorrect, and sometimes they take an attitude with the customer that they are wrong. All of these would be eliminated if current promotions were posted in every retail establishment for ALL to see. Also, this would be great marketing - as reported on this thread, so many guests don't even know about this promo. Once again, it shouldn't take a private message board to disseminate info - then again, maybe Disney is using the DISboards as free marketing? Wouldn't put it past them...

Thanks to those who actually alerted the rest of us to this info, Tiger

This is getting even nuttier than I thought- now they are giving 20% to some people and 10% to others? With the same passes? :confused3

I hope they mean to give 20% to all AP holders. I'm thinking that is my trigger point, too. At 10% off, I'll probably buy a couple things. At 20% off I will buy more.
Are you listening, Disney?

I think it is just taking a bit of time for everyone to get up to speed. I remember when I first got the 20% off at MK in Dec, not all the CMs in that one store knew of it yet. From what a Polynesian CM told me on Sunday, it is posted backstage there. Maybe it is bad show to have different memos cluttering up the registers.

It probably isn't bothering many guests at all. Most people don't make as many trips as DVCers and didn't even know there was 20% for a few months. I really am glad we get the 10% at most stores. I hated waiting to buy things at World of Disney to get the discount. Or seeing a shirt in the sports store at DTD and not getting the discount that I could get a few shops over. 20% would have been nice yesterday but I'll take the 10% gladly.

I made a purchase at the Artist Palette today and received 10%. The CMs there said they just moved to 10% today. It goes through May 2. They don't know what will follow.:confused3

The added three months on our renewals is far more valuable for my family.

Ok, today I was at WOD and only received 10%. So I stopped at the x-mas shop and asked what they were doing? They said still giving 20%. Stopped at Art of Disney, same thing. Ok now I am ticked!!! I use to work for the Disney Store, and what really drove me crazy was not having everyone on the same page. So my next stop was Guest Relations. I wanted to know the official word. So the CM check with a retail manager at Team Disney. At 7:55AM all retail managers were notified that the annual pass discount would be extended till May 1. 10% for regular annual passes, and 20% for Premium annual passes. Hey it was a nice run while it lasted. I am basically done shopping, but if something rocks my world, 10% is better nothing. ;)

Excellent! Thanks for letting us know. Now it will be interesting to see if all Disney retail places are able to implement this properly.

I especially like the fact that I don't have to go to the World of Disney to get the discount.

Thanks for taking the time to get the official word. A little bummed that the discount isn't the same for all AP holders. 10% probably won't get me to open my wallet too much. Maybe that's a good thing! ;)

If they are going to start a promotion that benefits premium passholders over "regular" passholders there should be some way to upgrade a regular pass on a prorated basis for the rest of the pass period. My pass expires at the end of April but it would do me no good to upgrade to premium then if the May 2 expiration date for the discount is correct. I have a trip in March and a trip in May where I'd like to get 20% off but it doesn't seem that it is possible.

my 3 yr old has a pap and the rest of us have ap's we leave Friday. Can I uses his pap to recieve the 20% he will of course be with me??

Does he have a picture ID to prove the pass is his?

The ask for an ID when giving the discount.

I was told the same thing yesterday...2 days before I was told the 20% was good until March 11 ...so for me I just will buy less or nothing like yesterday. 10% is not a big incentive to push me over....I guess a good thing...

why yes he does have picture id thanks for the tip I will be sure to pack in our park bag....he will be so happy. He has saved money to buy some stuff this trip

Let him feel like the big shot buying all the stuff for the rest of you, too! :goodvibes

The last time I asked if I could use a child AP to secure an AP room discount, they said no. They said that child APs are not applicable for discounts of any kind. Not sure if this is true as we didn't get the room, as we used our points.

Might be worth checking, but again, who knows if you are going to get a consistent answer, and if it will actually be accepted at all retail establishments, if indeed child APs are allowed to be used for discounts.

Good luck in getting this info, Tiger :)

I will report back when we get home next week. I would be disapointed if they said no because the stuff he is buying will be for himself and his sister.

I'd be surprised if a child's premium pass had different benefits than an adult's pass but I guess it is possible. Hopefully that isn't the case and you'll be able to get the discount from your son's pass.

if he is paying cash or gc, i would think it's okay. i doubt they would allow him to use your cc though (easily fixed by your buying a gc with your cc ;) ).

good luck
