Does anyone know how many times/year you need to go to get your money's worth out of annual passes? I just looked at the WDW website, and AP for our fmaily of four would be $1,632. I guess I need to find out the price per day of park hoppers and figure it out that way? :confused3

Thanks in advance for your help!

We have the seasonal passes and I think you would need to visit the parks at least 4 times to get the full value out of the pass. We live locally and are able to go quite a bit so we definitely get out $$$'s out them.

If you compare a standard AP to a MYW pass with hopping, the break-even point is about 11 park days.

Figuring out the price per day of hoppers is difficult, because the price is front-heavy (i.e. the first 5 days are the most expensive, but adding extra days after 5 is cheap as dirt).

If you want to do some math on your own, you can look over the ticket price comparison chart:

If you stay on-site, you need to factor in the savings on your room, if you get an AP rate. Also, remember that you can purchase the DDE card for savings on meals. We compared buying park hoppers and paying regular rate for our week-long Christmas stay or buying passes for all of us and scoring an AP room rate and found that it is cheaper for the 5 of us to buy annual passes for the trip. Of course, we would anyway; because we make multiple trips per year. Still, I like to know I'm getting a good deal.

Also consider that if you stay off site the AP will give you free parking. A savings of $8.00 a day I think.

Agree with above; I had several trips planned and so reached the break even point, then above and beyond that have saved on hotels and dining (with the DDE) to waaaay cover the cost of my pass, but that is just one pass, not four, and what I "saved" I have turned around and spent on extra trips!!!! The darn thing is burning a hole in my pocket!

Can you believe that it's $9.00 now?

Oh, hate to complicate things, but if you find that it's more economical for just one person to get an AP and MYW for the rest, you can still get an AP discount on the hotel as well as the free parking, since you'll be on property. :thumbsup2

Here is all the info on the AP's as well as the entitlements. :)

We did 7 days this past June and will do 13 days Easter 2007.
So 20 days for 4 people = $20.40 per day to hop around at all 4 main Parks.
Less than the 10 day Park hopper = $25.40 per day.

Plus as stated before - you may get a discount on your WDW resort stay, you are allowed to park your car for free, you can apply for the DDE card to get 20% off your sit down meals. You also can get a discount on certain tours

The Swan/Dolphin has certain dates for an AP room discount in 2006 and 2007. We have an AP rate of $199 and was bumped to a Resort view for Easter week 2007 :)

See how long you want to visit WDW and be in the parks and then do the math :goodvibes
